New feature: "Topic Views"

One other new feature today:
When you look at the main forums page, you will now see an additional column: views. This shows how many different people looked at a particular thread.
Note: it is NOT retroactive. Older threads will show only as many views as people have posted replies. That's not a lot. New threads will show the count per view. It will be helpful going forward, but any posts before 7:30 EST 12/17/2008 will show inaccurate view counts.

"another bump"
What is the purpose of this feature? I can see the immediate "how many look" vs "how many respond" comparison being useful, but what is the benefit, generally speaking, as a site admin? Just curious & asking...

Hi LJ,
Good questions: I am not entirely sure yet! It may be useful to some and not to others. Not sure it will revolutionize anyone's experience. I am not sure it is helpful to admin.
With new posts, it can help someone see their post has been read by x number of people. (It might encourage some of us to answer a post, for example, if we see 45 have read and none have replied...).
For older posts it will not help at all.
