    So here's my story.

I have been living in an apartment building for about a year and a half now. No problems with bugs before now. Although I'm not even sure my problem is bugs. I took a shower one evening and then proceeded to lay on my couch and read a book before going to bed. I wasn't wearing a shirt, just pajama pants. As I was reading, I grabbed a throw blanket on the edge of my couch to put over me. A little while later I noticed that the left side of my torso was itching. I threw off the blanket and looked at the sides of my torso and I noticed numerous tiny pimple like bites on my sides, mostly my left side. I thought it was just a bug in my blanket and threw it into a trash bag to wash. I researched online about the bites and everything seemed to point to bed bugs as a possibility, so I thought I might as well go ahead and do everything I could do just in case it was bed bugs. So I washed my blanket and my clothes and then dried on high heat for over an hour. I vacuumed my carpeting and spent at least 2 hours vacuuming my couch. I took off all of my bedding and vacuumed my mattress and box spring. I checked for signs of bed bugs everywhere, the bugs themselves, blood spots, fecal matter, shed skins, nothing. I threw out my old bedding and purchased new sheets and pillows, even a new comforter. After all that I didn't notice any more bites at all. Well, 5 days later I noticed just a few more bites, again 95% of the bites were on the sides of my torso. I checked my bed and couch again for signs of bed bugs, again, nothing. Well, each day for the past 3 days, I have noticed a few more bits on my sides. I have checked again for any signs of the bugs but no luck. But here's the strange thing, I don't notice any bites in the morning and ever since that first evening I have checked in the morning. Nothing. I notice the bites around 9pm-11pm. My schedule usually has me sleeping from midnight or just a little later to around 8am. So no signs of bed bugs anywhere, no bites in the morning, I just notice a few in the evening. So, I can't be sure they are bed bugs. And most of what I have read says not to start any expensive treatments until you know for sure what you have. I haven't told my landlord because I am fearful she will blame me for the bed bugs, but I have been here for a year and a half without any sign of bugs until now.

So what should I do? Does this even sound like a case of bed bugs or could it (hopefully) be something else? Should I just have a PCO come out to my apartment and do a full search of the place to see if they can find anything. And if they do, then tell my landlord? I'm really at a loss as to what to do, and I have absolutely no idea how I managed to get these evil things, if that's indeed what they are. Basically, I'm just looking for some help.

From what I've read, bites can show up at any time. It's probably a good idea to call a PCO for an inspection or maybe a bed bug dog. I hope you don't have them. Good luck.

You mention having just taken a shower before noticing the first bites. I have read elsewhere that sometimes a shower will bring up the bites.

In my case, my bites don't usually show up in the morning. They show up later in the day. So my pattern is optimism in the morning, pessimism at night. [Though things are getting better overall.]

Bedbug dog was a great suggestion if you can afford it.
