Hello Experts! I know you guys have heard this all before so I will try to be brief. I have been through 3 different PCO, an entolmologist and am finally here as a last resort. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated! We have been "dealing" with this situation since Mid August of this year.
I live in Los Angeles, in a 3 story condo that we have owned for 3 years. I have never even seen a spider in my unit and it gets regularly sprayed for pests on the outside. I returned from a trip visiting my husband's grandparents and the beach and noticed bites on my foot and on my leg. I thought they looked like sand flea bites. They never itched and they were flesh colored but raised. Unfortuntely, I ignored them and ignored the fact that i might have brought something back in our luggage. Days went by and I had more bites on my ankles and legs. I wan't sure if they were just taking longer to show up or if they were actually new. I had also been outside and it was summer so I thought they might have been from mosquitos. After a few more days, I saw a few more bites and I panicked so I called an exterminator. Here is where I made my first mistake.
I called a PCO in Los Angeles. He came in, looked at the bites on my ankles and did a half *ss search of my house (found nothing) and said that because I was on vacation, I must have brought bed bugs in. BED BUGS? I had never even heard of bed bugs. He said that they were probably biting me at night and that if I didn't take care of them they would infect my whole house. So he had me rip off all of my bedding, bag it, take my animals out, and he proceeded to DELTA DUST my entire house. He informed me that I would have to leave and that when I came back there would be a light dust on some of the objects in my house and that I would have to wipe it off with a towel. When I came back, there was white dust EVEYWHERE. It was a disaster. He dumped it all over our floors (we do not have carpet) and all over the walls, the sofa etc. Needless to say, it took us 3 days to clean it up. We were so mad, we called to get our money back and the owner refused. Here is where the story gets weird.
When we moved back in, everything was fine for a day or two but then I started getting "bitten" again. This time, though, it was only on my stomach, or my chest. And I would get "bitten" in broad daylight at 2 in the afternoon. I work from home and my office is at home. These "bites" were not occuring at night. Also, I noticed weird "bites" on my cats. They were itching and one of them had a big red "bite" on her ear. I didn't think BB's bit cats. Over the course of the next week, I got 6-8 "bites" that resembled "welts" in the day. So we called the PCO again and we came out again and this time we sprayed with the Pymecyin (sp) chemical mixture, again telling us we must still have bed bugs. This happened a total of 2 times in September. We ended up cleaning out the entire place, caulking the entire floorboards and perimeter, getting a painting crew in there who painted the entire unit from ceiling to floor including cupboards and closets. I also got my air conditioning totally cleaned out as well as the ducts. Our one neighbor is having no issues.
At this point I had done research. If we had bed bugs, wouldn't I see them? Wouldn't they easily be seen at some point in mattress folds, sofa folds etc? No, he said. They hide. At this point, everything we own is in bags, has been dried and redried in 140 degrees. We have thrown out the sofa, chairs, tons of luggage, clothes etc. We have followed all the directions. Yet, I still get these weird "bites" ONLY on my torso and my chest, not in lines, totally spaced out. I have read here that they are totally nocturnal. These things that are biting are biting on sunny days at 2 in the afternoon. AND, they are bypassing my arms that are in tank tops and biting my stomach which is under clothes. Yesterday, I was wearing yoga pants and underwear and got a bite on my rear end??? Yet no bite on my uncovered arms?????
I have had Terminix and Orkin come in, their entomologist came in and they searched the entire house and could not find anything. We laid sticky traps down and could find anything. We had climbup monitors on thye beds-nothing. No one will help us unless we can tell them what this is.
COULD THIS BE BED BUGS???? I would see them? THE PROS WOULD SEE THEM? Bed bugs would not be crawling up me in broad daylight, into my pants, bypassing my arms and biting my ass? Right? I Wouldd see eggs, nymphs, adults, feces, something?
COULD THIS BE MITES? If so, EXPERTS, please help me... how do you catch mites and how do you get rid of them? No one will help us. I can't see them.
COULD I JUST BE ALLERGIC TO THE DELTA DUST AND POISONS AND THAT IS WHY I AM GETTING THESE BUMPS THAT LOOK LIKE BITES? MAYBE I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM OR IF WE DID IT IS GONE? THESE NOW LOOK LIKE BITES?I am in this entire nightmare, top to bottom, over $6000. PLEASE HELP. Plus, I haven't lived normally there in over 2 months and my animals haven't lived there since Sept.
I am this close to selling and that would stink in this market. :(
THANK YOU!

I would say that if you've had three visual inspections over three months and no sign of BB found then probably not BB . BB bites can show up several days later so knowing exactly when the bites accrued can be difficult . Skin irritations can happen for so many reasons have you seen your Dr. yet ..

I did see the dermatologist. He confirmed them to be bites (but really, I think that is because I told him they were) and he injected them with cortisone.) These bites have never itched, it is really weird.
The only so called "confirmation" of BB we got was from the first PCO who said he found one or two dead BB bodies after the first dusting but my husband and I don't believe him. We think he is just saying that to cover his behind. I want to know why no one (including any of the other extermination companies who we were trying to throw money at) could find any BB.
I just want to know if I have a bug, don't have a bug? I called Terminx to do thermal and they won't do it because they can't find BB.
I don't know what to do but something is biting me? Or so it seems? And it bites my husband 1 to my 10. And it bites me during the day because as of right now, my husband is sleeping there and I am not.
