Need help!!

found out in May that I had bedbugs. I had my first treatment and was still getting bit. I had another treatment 2 weeks after and got bit a few times but less. I got a 3rd treatment last week and so far no bites...here is my question....I have been using the air conditioner in my room and it gets quite cold at night. I know bedbugs arent fond of the cold. Is it possible Im not getting bitten because its too cold in my room? I dont want to get a false sense of security thinking the treatments worked only to find out that they are just hiding because its cold. I would love to just assume the treatments worked. I used a PCO and he used suspend. Does anyone know anything about suspend? I was told its one of the best pestisides for bedbugs but then again a PCO told me that lol so Im not sure if I can trust that. I have to add that this website has saved my sanity. I spent many weeks feeling so alone. Like I am the only one going through this. Its good to have others to bounce ideas off of and to read stories of others who understand what Im going through. This has to be the worst thing that has ever happened to me : (

AC is cold, but not that cold. Those suckers can survive in the cold, but I would be confident that the 3 treatments killed them. How big was your infestation? The fact that you say you were getting bitten less and less is a very good sign. Were you using the AC through the other treatments or just now because it's gotten too hot at night? I have an infested box out on my balcony that I put out there in early February and it will have to stay there for the 18 months. Back in February it was 22 below and I saw a baby crawling around in there once the weather got warm, so I know those suckers can survive but I don't think that AC would keep them from coming out to bite you. I don't have AC but I do find that with my window open, it can get pretty cool at night, especially if the wind is blowing. I wouldn't worry too much because it sounds like your treatments were doing the trick. For peace of mind, why don't you stop using the AC for a few nights and see what happens. It's hard to stop worrying, I still do. This is probably the worst thing that's ever happened to me too. It's getting better for me and it will for you too. Hang in there.

Hi Jenn28.....I had about 50 bites in all over a 2 month period. I saw 1 dead BB on the floor next to my side of the bed, 1 dead one on my husbands side a day later and one live one crawling on my bed in the middle of the night. I never had fecal or blood stains on my sheets. The PCO was never able to find the source (eggs and nest) Besides the 3 i saw and the bites I had on my arms and legs, you would never even think i had them so im not really sure how bad my infestation was/is. After my first treatment I was still getting bit and I got frustrated and threw out my headboard. Im thinking that might have been the source but no way to be sure. As for my a/c I only started using it last week when it started getting very hot and that was right around the time of my 3rd treatment so I wasnt sure if my room being cold was stopping the biting or the treatments had finally worked. I agree with you, it is VERY hard to stop worrying. Every little red mark, blotch and itch makes me nervous. Im glad to hear that things are getting better for you as well. At what point can we relax I wonder?? Im sleeping better but Im still on edge : (

Miserableone,
Make sure to keep a diary of last date of bites. If you followed all of the protocols, had 3 treatments you are well on your way. Unfortunately, only time will tell. They rule is 60 days with no evidence. Plus, the bbs will often be active after a treatment so you still may be in for some bites. I went 28 days, had a treatment then had bites. I am confident that it will be the last round and those suckers crossed to poison to get to me and will soon be dead. Just keep vigilant and be careful with your belongings, keep the bags etc.
I know what you mean about every red mark - I feel like a crazy person with a magnifying glass examining myself all the time!
Please check in and let us know how you are doing!

Thanks Bugnut. Its really helpful having people to talk to who understand what Im going through. This has to have been the most stressful time of my life. The worrying and wondering is constant. My brain just doesnt rest. I guess if I had to try and look on the bright side of things, my house has never been cleaner, organized and clutter free. Im told thats the only way to keep a handle on the situation. I will keep everyone updated on my story as I know success stories are what keeps people going on here (myself included) happy 4th!!!
