My PCO only wants to come only every month??I Want 2 wks
(8 posts)-
I am using Scherziner Pest Control out of Cincinnati. They have come once three days ago. Everhthing I see here seems to say there are PCO's who treat every two weeks, which I prefer. I am staying in a hotel and it is very expensive. Hubby is staying at home in bed for bait, bless him. What does everyone here think about once monthly? Does anyone know of a good PCO, is Terminex any good, anyone who willcome out twice weekly?? I really have a mental health diagnosis of General Anxiety with Obsessiveness in the past, like 20 years ago, but this is bringing it all back, I am not dealing with this very well and two weeks would make me feel MUCH better.

aba - this should be addressed on the FAQs. Though different PCOs have different treatment methods and it is recommended to follow the protocols of the company you trust, the general consensus on this site (which I feel most comfortable with) is to have your PCO follow-up every two weeks until you have no symptoms. This makes the best sense to me because we understand the eggs hatch about 10-14 days after being laid. If the PCO you are using still wants to treat again after a month, ask them how that will effectively halt the reproductive cycle.

And I wonder if I know what their answer will be - We are using a 40-day residual, or somesuch.

People who get treated once a month have terrible problems getting rid of bedbugs, in my experience of reading stories of sufferers.
I understand there are some materials that apparently cannot be reapplied before a certain period of time, but aside from those instances, when we are talking the commonly used pesticides for bedbugs, waiting 30 days is, in my non-professional opinion, a likely path to failure.
Please have a chat with your PCO about this.

I take this opportunity to remind folks to think like a 'bean counter' when asking these scheduling questions. After you have initially paid for a service, every follow up becomes an expense for a contractor (PCO). Set up the frequency of visits schedule prior to initial payment and only accept "as needed" language in the schedule in addition to these documented visits. It's like this: the more hours they spend treating you is less hours availsble for getting new money (read: more) from a new customer.
I have had quite a discussion with my PCO on this subject, he (in this case) also only wants to treat "as needed." I had to remind him that a question I asked up front was "will you treat every two weeks"? To which the sales guy replied as "often as [I] need it." I did not think to define whose standard (mine: every 2 weeks vs. theirs: monthly -- if they have to reapply) of "need" would be applicable.

My contract with my PCO says "The price includes two visits. However, should it be deemed necessary we will re-treat the rooms where the bedbug(s) were seen or felt until bedbugs have been completely eliminated at no additional charge. This guarantee will last for 2 months from the follow up visit. Keep in mind that you are the host (the subject the bedbugs feed off of), if they are still present then you will get bit; therefore you'll know if they're still there." I've needed one additional follow-up so far and they kept their word and came right back.

Thanks to everyone who responded with the answer that I felt was right, every two weeks. My PCO has never had BB, if he did, he would understand why bi-weekly is more assuring. I have attempted to call once today and will call again now, if he won't treat I will get someone who will. Thank God for people willing to share about this horrible problem.

OK, HE SAYS THAT IN OHIO HE CAN ONLY TREAT EVERY 21 DAYS. HE AGREED TO COME BACK ON THE 21ST DAY. BEST I CAN DO I SUPPOSE.
