   HI

   A summary report of what just happened .
   Mother was sick living in 1 room apt . She got bites , we thought it was part of the flu she had or bacterial infection or reaction to meds.
   I got bit and discovered a bite while going for a pee and catching it in the act . ( full size female ) ewwwww!
   Since there were bed bug reports in the building I got on pc and checked to see what kind of a bug was biting me ( when I whacked it i got big blood smear on my hand) \
   Sure enough bed bugs . So I tossed my mattress and found all the excrement bugs yadayada yada.
   Next day reported to manager and an inspection was arranged for day after.
   Started to hunt out and kill all visible bugs I could find in my bedframe.
   Found all info about bed bug treatment and prevention immediately started to take appropriate measures .
   Pest control guy came in and ordered a spraying . Left us with 2 days to get ready and I couldnt get any help.
   We threw out mothers mattress boxspring a couch and chair. I kept my mattress and bedframe . ( bad mistake)
   I silicone caulked all of the cracks in my bedframe ( really stupid ) thinking that I wouold either imprison what was left over or make sure no more buddies coming in.
   The silicone cracked and I had cracks all over again. ( aren't I brilliant) .
   Still seeing bugs but they starting to hide cuz I think they know I am onto them.
   Dusted bedframe with DEe all over .Used some containers with smooth plastic walls like climb ups and filled with de on the bed legs.
   Whhole apt vacummed all beding bagged and personal belongings still a nightmare cuz not enough boxes to stash everything so we do best we can .
   Nnext day we get the spraying .
   I come in and find afew obviousely traumatised and on their way to bed bug heaven .l
   2 days later they still coming out of my bedframe and I cant figure out from where cuz I thought I plugged every hole
   Dont see any anywhere else in apt .
   No sleep getting frustrated mother in a hotel . i decided to toss my bedframe . I took it apart can of pesticide in hand ,,, found hidden board seam screaming with black .
   AHA now we getting somewhere.
   Bed frame tossed ...still seeing bugs on mattress even though fresh mattress cover put on .
   Mattress tossed and room looking more empty.
   working on getting everything properly bagged and clothes isolated and possible infected furniture cleaned or removed.
   2 days now since mattress gone.
   have temp bed made up with de and climb ups on all leg posts and wheels smeared in vaseline.
   saw one buy in next day and 2 coming out from carpet seam on the wall.
   2 days ... later . only saw one bug in the bathroom... i think it was pesticide traumnatised. Smashed it .
   Seeing no visible bugs , second spraying is in 2 days so this is approx 11 days since start of treatment.

   Questions .

   I am using a brand of DE I bought from RONA that is bug killer labelled .
   I am testing it out on one I captured . I know the stuff got on the bug but its still alive 3 days later.
   approx slightly less than medium size bedbug.
   The DE is supposed to be 90% silicone dioxide. I read only 2 use food grade DE . ( Brandname "Green Earth Homecare").
   Is there a difference between the bug killer label and food grade ?

   What are the chances of bed bugs laying eggs out in the open like right in the middle of a carpet as opposed to a crack in a wall or more secure place?

   When are you getting too paranoid.
   I soak my shorts and change clothing everytime I go out.
   all my clothes are isolated .
   I have de sprinkeld all around my computer desk along with vaseline on the edges and the computer equipment is dusted with de .
   We are sitting on plastic one piece lawn chairs with no seams.
   What are the chances of stepping on a hatchling and having company in your bed all over .
   I am constantly running to the washroom at night.?

   Since foggers don't seem to work on eggs I think that it would be preferrable to treat personal belongings on a " treatment as needed " basis meaning either hot water, steam, dryer, long storage ect ect .

   I am very dispapointed in the pest control agency. They make no mention of taking apart the bedframe and giving it a really good going over. It doesn't even say anything in the prep sheet about it. All it says is that if you dont have a bedframe they recommend getting one to elevate mattress off the ground . WTF ???????
   When the inspector came however what was the first place he checked ? THE BED FRAME !

   I had to call them up and ask them several questions and taking precautions ect ect . In my opinion the prep sheet doesn't go nearly as far as it should have. The technician said I did a good job prepping but I know I did a lousy job . there wasn't any time to make certain all belongings were secured and things layed out properly to get maximum benefit. He didnt say anything about the bed frame either and I should think that the pco should stress just " How important " it is to be very thorough with checking the bedframe.
   This has turned into one incredible nightmare I am not soon going to forget .
