Moving - I think I have a plan
(8 posts)-
...and I want to see if anyone else has tried this or if I shoould look into other options.
Okay - we're moving in a week but have access to our current, infested place until the end of the month. So my thought process is as follows:
1. Buy new mattresses for my wife, myself, and our children (we were going to do this before we knew we had the bugs, so no big deal there) and move into the new house with only the new mattresses and some laundered clothes to last us a week or so.
2. Pack everything up in a big U-Haul (which we'll have to do anyway) but before we take it to our new house, have it bombed with vikane.
3. Move into the new house.
Has anyone else done this? Did it work? Or am I just wasting money?
Also, does it make any sense to have the new houlse treated by a professional before we move in.... you know, just in case?
Your advice will be appreciated...

Good plan

I was wondering the same about treating a new place. I plan to call a PCO tomorrow.

I am so paranoid about are cars though. sigh

Have the car fumigated with Vikane as well.

Where can I buy Vikane or do I have a PCO do it?

Must be a PCO with a fumigation license.
Look to find the company that actually provides the fumigation service. Many companies subcontract out fumigation services.

Has anyone used a bed bug dog to scout out their new place before moving their stuff into it?
