Moving with new bed bug problem
(1 post)-
Hello,
Let me describe the situation and hopefully get some feedback on the measures I should be taking.
Two weeks ago I stayed at a friend's apartment for one night. I also started getting some bug bites soon after. On my back, upper thigh and two singular ones on my upper forearm as well as two on my leg.
Upon inspection of my mattress and box spring, I couldn't find any thing as gruesome as what I've seen online/tv. However, I know that they could be hiding anywhere.
I am moving tonight and wish that I had more time to diagnose and treat this problem. As of right now, I'm definitely throwing away the bed. I slept on the floor last night and, as far as I can tell, did not get bitten. I bagged all my clothes with clear bags and will be double bagging them tonight before moving. I intend on doing a HUGE wash once we move since I don't have time/money to do so today.
I was also planning on throwing out any wooden furniture in my room as well.
I bought a Kill Bedbugs II spray which is meant for wooden furniture. Should I just use this?
I am being really optimistic in thinking that this problem is just in my bed and presumably my clothes. Because, like I said, the bites haven't been of epic proportions and last night went a lot better than most. Also, I have not been getting bitten every single night.
Mostly I am panicking because moving is stressful enough and I don't need this hassle.. who does? Our plan was to pay for someone to come as soon as we could after moving in to do an assessment just in case.Ok, that was a lot.. sorry, but I do need some feedback on whether I'm doing the right things, overreacting, or should be doing more.
Thanks.
