Hi- We got rid of our September 2009 infestation and have been bed-bug free since the PCO treated September 18th. He treated both our mattress and our box spring, and then we promptly encased them in Aller-Zip encasements. Now, 10 months later, we're moving to Virginia. I am VERY attached to our bug-free state and DO NOT want any kind of repeat performance. So:

    1) Do we need to worry about ripping/emerging bugs after 10 months, or would all of them have been killed by dint of being encased with pesticides?

    2) If we do need to worry, how can we prevent the encasements from ripping.

    3) How can we ensure that there are not bugs in the moving truck from other folks' furniture?

I know this sounds paranoid, but if you've had bed bugs, you know that paranoid is a way of life!
    Thanks!

Not being overly paranoid at all. I would be saying the SAME THINGS. first of all, Great to hear you are bb free. a success story is always oh so welcome here. Did you only have one treatment?

Anyway, this is going to take some thinking. And lots of feedback from our friends here on the forum. I'm sure if we put our heads together we'll come up with something. The bed and box spring thing is easy. Double up on the encasement perhaps? wrap it in that tight moving plastic? I would definitely do at least one, if not both of those things because I know they can live a long time without eating, unfortunately.

As far as the moving truck goes, that's tough. I often wonder if that is how i got them in the first place, having just moved to my house in december.
Inspect the truck? treat the truck? I don't know....this is a tough one.
