This is a sub-topic from my ongoing BB battle.

Looking for some advice for moving out of my LA place now that my SF stuff has been cleared. We are close to signing a lease on a new place, and I need to be out of my infested place really soon.

Some background, again: I had a DE treatment after they found dead bugs in my apartment last month. Due to work and excessive travel over the last 30 days, I have only been home a few days during the treatment. I am STILL not at home sadly, and probably won't be at ALL until I move. It's just the way my crazy schedule is these days, which is stressful enough. I know all advice on this forum advocates being in the infested apartment during treatment, especially DE, to lure the bugs out, but I just haven't been able to be home...and I won't be able to be there. I fear that my not being there has had them spread to my other belongings, including my electronics (see below). My neighbor is being treated right now, too, so perhaps the bugs will be looking to amble over to her place to die. That's a hope of mine. There is no food in my apartment for them.

My plan to move is fairly simple. I am only moving my clothing which will be cleaned, and bringing small items that can be treated in a Packtite -- that's it. All my furniture and crappy futon that was infested will be tossed. There is nothing coming into my new place that won't be able to be treated in the packtite or laundered.

Do I have a good chance of making a successful move?

I am also having a K9 come out to clear some of my electronics (I noted in another topic that my laptop was found to be infected by a K9 dog while I was up in SF), if they are clear, I may sell them just in case, but I am still scared to spread BBs to any others.

I am also having a K9 come to clear my car, since I travel a lot for work, and my infested laptop was in my car during this past month, I fear something may have gotten out and into the car. That would really, really suck.

Any other advice or tips? I know this is an unusual and unorthodox moving situation, and I wish I could be there during treatment, but my job has me elsewhere right up until I have to move out.

For prevention and detection at our new place, we have bought:

    1. PackTite - treating everything we bring from my LA place, and even some stuff from SF just to be safe

    2. New bed frame that has posts and mattress cover (even though SF mattress was cleared by K9 dog...just being proactive)

    3. XL ClimbUps for our new bed frame

    4. 4 Bed Bug Alert Pheromone Monitor And Traps to use in bedroom, living room, closet for early detection if we brought anything with us

Any other ideas, or do we sound prepared?

Thanks, all! This site has helped us (slowly) get our life back.
