I'm moving a few days and am trying to be really, really careful, but was hoping that I might be able to get some advice if I'm missing anything. Here's what I'm doing: drying (at 150 degrees) all my clothes and putting them in ziplocs, packtiting everything else and putting all that in ziplocs, leaving my computer behind and buying a new one that will go straight to the new apartment, and ditching all furniture (including bed) with the exception of a lamp that fits in the packtite. The only thing I can't disinfect is my cell phone. Once I move, I'm immediately scheduling a k9 inspection just to be safe. Any thoughts/advice?

Very thorough. One reminder--Don't use any cardboard boxes to move, even to hold the ziplock bags . Bedbugs love to crawl inside the tubules of corrugated cardboard and you will never see them! If you are moving anything in suitcases or a backpack, make sure you treat the suitcases. Don't forget to packtite or wash and dry the clothes or coat and jacket you are wearing, especially shoes, and your wallet or purse. Do you have a car that might have any bedbugs in it? Do you have things in a storage locker or garage that you haven't thought of?

The K9 is a great idea. Did you have the place you are moving to inspected before you move in? If (and I certainly hope not) bedbugs are detected in the new place, you want to verify that they were already there and you did not bring them in. Since you are moving from a place that already has bedbugs, you might assume they are yours but in this bedbug prevalent society, that might not be the case.

Good idea re: checking the new place out before moving in. And I'll make sure not to use cardboard boxes. Thanks for the tips!
