IF supposedly you had a friend who worked in a meat department of a grocery store or a butcher, and struck a deal with him to pay him some money to keep a bunch of your stuff in the freezer for a few days in large ziploc bags. Do you think this would work?

Does anyone know how cold these freezers can be?

jimb..not too long ago..someone posted about a freezing service...I think it was in New Jersey..but I don't remember...they provide short term freezing storage for food purveyors....or something similar. It was like renting a freezing locker... The problem is always logistics....but I for one am grateful for your freezing death data.....The only problem is that the bug had absolutely no protection, no thermal insulation.......In the real world, the bastards surround themselves in mattresses, boxsprings, clothing etc.......but its nice to know that it takes one day of freezing in a bottle to send them to hell where they belong !!!!! Hi ... if I recall it was buggedinbrooklyn that rented the locker--for a full month. Jimb--a few days does not cut it--2-3 weeks is what I have heard at sub-zero temperatures. M. Potter has an article out too; in the UK Seriously, it depends upon what you store how you store it and how thick it is to kill them off 100%. I know it sounds overdone ... it is not. This is what experts are saying. 2-3 weeks. Sub-zero temps and a quick cool down is best--sealing out all air to prevent ensuing mold and freezer burn is paramount too. Do read up on it further. I killed bb in a pill jar in a freezer in about an hour! They were not very healthy, still-that does not make it a blanket statement. I would go with the pros. A meat locker for a month--that sounds best.
Site search freezing and you will likely come up with a load of stuff.
What is it you want to store? How thick how much--weight wise ... All that is important too.
If you can put it into a drier for bone dry + 5--20 minutes--then double bag it = cheaper and much much quicker and more efficient!

Willow is right--Potter says 2 weeks at below zero. And then he is not sure. But it sounds pretty likely.

Potter's article linked from this FAQ:

omg i was right ... I'm so bad at names and links guys ... I always wany to call him harry potter ... sorry but I wish he was he could cast a spell and cause all bed bugs in the word to turn into 20 dollar bills, Then me and parakeets would collect the money, get bugalina some new furniture (and a maid that knows bed bugs)then, with the change zillions and zillionz ... we'd take that relentless endless cruise around the world checking to see if Potter "missed" any bugs. Of course our vallet would squish those outright should we find any. lol
