MAYBE bed bugs? Any suggestions?
(2 posts)-
After noticing 3 unusual bites I've started to worry that I might have bed bugs. I had two bites on my shoulder and one on my neck and I'd describe them, but from what I've gathered, focusing on the bites won't get you very far since they vary so much. I WILL mention that around the time I noticed the bites (about 3 days ago) I heard a mosquito buzzing around my head while I was sleeping and I saw a mosquito in my room last night. Do I sound crazy? Yes, I probably do but I won't rest soundly until I feel that I've ruled out bed bugs.
I have inspected my boxspring/mattress/bed frame and haven't found any incriminating signs except for one tiny dark brown spot on my sheets and one tiny dark brown spot on my duvet. The one on my sheets is something I'm fairly certain has been there for months (and while I've gotten a few bites here and there throughout the summer, probably 4 or 5 in total, it hasn't seemed like anything beyond the usual occasional spider/mosquito bite). I tested both spots with hydrogen peroxide and nothing happened. I did find a few things in my sheets/mattress pad that I couldn't identify that didn't really look like bed bugs/bed bug skin casts and could just be regular house detritus or lint. I suppose they COULD be skin casts but it's impossible for me to say and I've tried to take pictures but they come out blurry. I put these things in a small plastic bag--how do I go about getting them tested?
I would like to have an inspection done by a k9 and I've made an appointment with Advanced K9 Detectives but I'm at a loss for knowing what questions I should be asking them to make sure that I'm covering all of my bases. Also--I've read the other posts in the forum that mention this company and I'm not entirely satisfied with what I've heard. If someone could recommend any other companies that seem to be the best at k9 inspections, I would really appreciate it.
Also--I went ahead and purchased protect-a-bed covers for my mattress and boxspring, and even got their covers for my pillows though those may just be for allergies. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

OverlyAnxious, I can not speak to what company to use or not to use in New York. You should demand that any company you choose performs a visual Inspection of any alerted areas.
