Dear Dre,
If you can get a 10x lens or higher magnification and look at the under (ventral) side of the abdomen toward the right side (your left side whilst viewing) and about 1/4 the way up the abdomen from the distal tip you should see an inverted "vee shape" whcih leaves the bottom end of the sclerite (shell) open. This is the area where the male penetrates during traumatic insemination.
"Vee present" = female.
Hope this helps ! paul b.

The one thing that always confuses me is that people say that the female is bigger then the male...or is more oval shaped. When i looked on the underside of it i saw a kind of a clear spot going up the middle of its abdomen. Plus from the shape of it and the tip I came to the conclusion that it was a adult female.
Ah....a good thing and bad at the same time.

Can't really judge those pictures but from my PC I would guess that it's a male.

I agree KQ but with those photos I didn't want to make a guess.
Have you posted the "rest of the story" yet?
I've been away and didn't want to miss it, please advise, thanks much ! pb
