Anyone have an experience with this company? I'm considering using their K9 Unit. They get excellent reviews on Citysearch:

but...... you never know who is posting these reviews.

You might read the other two threads mentioning M&M, if you have not yet.

Thank you. I just checked them out and didn't really see anything specifically recommending for or against M & M. I'd love to hear from someone who has had a personal experience...

    Anyone? :)

    Hi Tom,

I have not used them and I understand those links did not really provide reviews per se, but they did have some relevant information. (Please note, I am only citing other people's claims on other threads, and have had no personal experience of this PCO.)

This poster did say that they recommended she get rid of her mattress, box spring, and all fabric furniture in order to have a guarantee. The poster said this was NOT based on an inspection but is their normal policy for cases where people have had bed bugs more than 2-3 weeks.

Another said M&M told them to get rid of their carpet or steam it daily for 14 days.

I am not saying that fabric furniture, carpets, or beds should never be gotten rid of or that treating them is easy. But since many entomologists do not recommend tossing such things, except in extreme cases (and remember, the first poster claimed she had not even been inspected yet), this may be an unusual policy.

It may make treatment more effective in some cases, but there are other factors that make treatment difficult (like neighbors). Having a guarantee is nice, but you have to weigh the pros and cons of this policy. Some PCOs may be able to do a good job without you tossing out all of your soft furniture (assuming this really is the policy on their guarantee as the other posters claimed).

On the other hand, Tim Wong of M&M seems to know his bed bugs. He testified at the city hall hearing in February.

Their website guarantees results in 2 weeks, and it might be worth it to many people to do exactly what they say -- even if it seems extreme -- and benefit from good results. People's circumstances and what they're willing to do to get rid of the problem do vary a great deal.

They're members of the BBB and NPMA, which is good. They're a reputable company.

Dam I thought we almost had another fatality.

The last record I can find is the 1850's death through anaemia attributed to bed bugs. Although I don't think the leeches they used in those days helped much either.

I just want to update this post by saying that when I spoke to M & M recently, they said that I could keep my couch and mattress. They can inject pesticides deep into these items to save them. I think it's about $60 per item to treat.

I am using them to treat my apartment. They're coming on Friday. If I had done enough research first, I might have gone a different route like thermal treatment. However, at this point, I just want someone to get in here as soon as possible (after I've had a chance to heat and bag everything) before the situation gets out of hand.

I'll try to keep everyone updated on how successful the treatment is.
