I didn't use a bed bug dog myself, so I cannot comment based on direct experience.

I believe I have seen several other people mention Isotech as having one. You might search the forum here for Isotech and see if any reviews from people who've actually used them come up.

I don't recall whether I've heard the names of other companies with detection dogs in the greater LA area.

Sorry I can't be more help.

If you're still looking IsoTech is great too. Just did my place and cleared me of bed bugs. Their K-9 teams consist of an experienced professional who does a visual confirmation on anything the dog finds and their dogs are trained to find bed bugs on a first pass. Missing a bug or other live evidence on a first pass does not get the dog a reward and/or used in their K-9 inspection unit. They were also very professional and competitively priced for L.A. Also, there was no "leading" the dog with commands and actions that essentially tell the dog what the handler is looking for like, "Show me the bed bugs, boy" or anything else like that. I mention that because I've seen others on this board mention it, and after watching a K-9 inspection I realize that's probably a big no. Ditto on just taking the dog's indications and not doing a thorough visual inspection.

    That's just my personal experience.

I am new to this site. Well, I have been quietly reading every post I can find on bed bugs for almost two months, but new to posting on the forum. Thank you for all of the great advice.

Long story short, I was bitten about 20 times on one arm at my boyfriend's place. Turns out he had them, (he's only been living there for three months!) his neighbors have/had them, and the management has been doing a shoddy job of "getting rid of them." The building has had them for four years! My fear was that I might have brought them home with me at some point, so I started searching and searching my apartment and started washing sheets and clothes in hot water. Couldn't find anything, mind you, but, I was still going a little crazy worried about every mark on my body. The not getting any sleep part didn't help, either.

After about a month of searching my bedroom, cleaning, washing sheets, freaking out, doing almost everything the FAQ's told me to do, I called Isotech (I also found them through the forum.) They helped me set up a K9 Inspection for the next day!

Like, LAWoman, (I read the your story in another topic post), they sent out Robert and Zip the dog to my apartment. Zip did his thing, with a very cautious me watching. Robert was very professional and really knew his stuff. He saw that I was anxious and helped calmed my nerves. They went through my room, my roommate's room (even though she never complained of anything) and living room very thoroughly. They even checked and cleared my car. Nothing. No scent of them.

Robert also showed me how Zip would react to live bed bugs and eggs by putting a vial of them in a dresser drawer while he kept Zip out of the room. Robert brought Zip back into my bedroom, but this time Zip came into my room with a different energy, sniffing with great vigor, then scratched right away at the dresser drawer, and got himself a treat. This demonstration definitely calmed my nerves and gave me some hope. And me and my boyfriend are still keeping vigilant with his clothes when he visits.

All in all, I had a really great experience with Isotech and I would recommend them to everyone in Los Angeles who is interested in K9 inspections. Treatment-wise, my boyfriend is moving out of his apartment next week and we're in talks with Isotech to help him get his stuff treated during the move. I'll update that process, too. Wish us good luck!

I too used IsoTech for an inspection after reading LAWomans posting. Eric came out to my house with Bailey earlier in the week. BTW, they service all of California! Eric came in first to examine a "bug" that I was sure was a nymph. Turns out it was a mite. He then did a visual inspection of my room/bed. He was so sure I didn't have BB's he said I didn't even need to bring in the K9. He wouldn't have charged me a dime if I opted not to. But because of the psychological toll this whole experience has taken on me, I opted to have Bailey come in. Sure enough, Bailey didn't find anything- except the vile that Eric hid to show me how Bailey would react if he did find something. Eric also took the time to educated me on what to do about travelling, etc.

I have nothing but positive things to say about IsoTech and they're BB division and would also recommend them to anyone in California that is looking for an inspection.

VigilantinLA, glad everything turned out okay at your place! Good luck to you and your boyfriend!
