I took along a pocket size camera today for some pictures and video. I just uploaded this short clip for people to actually get a sense of just how small an immature bed bug is. We always see the adults but a lot of people never get a glimpse of the nymphs.

It's an interesting video but it's too bad that there wasn't something in there for scale. If the point is to show how small it is, it's hard to get a feel from the video because there is no way to know how zoomed in it is.

lol .. Thank you Sir. I've done it before but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong this time around.

Couldn't put anything for reference this go around because this little bugger was not happy that I found him so he never stopped moving. lol .. I'll upload the picture of him before I disturbed him.

If it helps that is a 2 inch thick wooden slat. The camera was on macro with a 20X zoom.

Here he is sitting on the 2 inch wood bed slat.

Just before we disturbed the bugger. Again, 2 inch thick wood slat with a black plastic end cap.

And this one is another wood slat. It's the side view and this wood is about 1/2 inch thick.

Thank you very much KQ. I get the sense of size base on measurement of wood..and it is moving fast. In some ways, it helps for me to see if without magnification to get an idea why people see them moving out of the corner of their eye.

Off topic, but KQ refers to David Cain as Sir...is David Cain knighted for his BB work..he should be...

Thanks for posting that...it does look quite hard to see. I think I'd rather go looking for the fecal traces instead of one of those.

We even have a secret handshake and worship totems in blood letting rituals on sacred ground, oops no that was steaks in Chicago last year.

I am unlikely to make the honours list in this lifetime but I did once rival KQ in a poll to be sainted.

Joking aside some of us on the forum have known each other online and off line for many years. Few can claim the fabled "Full House" (for which I am still waiting for my special tie) but the core of old timers really do this for the only right reason. Because it's the right thing to do to help people.

I love my family but I have more contact with you lot than I do with them (even though tonight I have Mum's home cooked spaghetti bolognese sauce).

why is it not loading here

    Hi KQ,

    Sorry you had trouble.

It seems counterintuitive, but to embed YouTube or other videos (like Vimeo), just copy the LINK. Not the embed code.

Go to SHARE-->OPTIONS-->LONG LINK, copy and paste in.

The embed code calls up an "iframe" and that does not work on the forum posts.

    I fixed your post above.

Nice photos and yes, that first instar nymph is SO small!

I hope you will share more of what you find. It's really helpful!

Thanks Nobugs. You can also delete the 2 other useless posts just below the first.

The camera I was using is a little digital pocket size I've been playing with to see just how clear the pictures and video are. It's a great little camera for under 300 bucks. I have a lot of video and pictures I've been playing with because ..... wait for it, wait for it .... I've been hard at work building my website it's coming a long real nice ... I think I have a winner this time around.

Hey KQ, don't you see my pictures and videos? I always point out how small nymphs can be.
