Does anyone know of a reliable PCO in Northern Kentucky? Does anyone have any advice on how to store the zippie bags filled with clothes? Any advice on how to deal with a frugile landlord, or a condo association?

Have spent my entire day off washing clothes and ziplocking items. Finally told family/friends about problem, only one friend seems to want nothing to do with me. Parents want me to throw away all funiture and sleep on floor, this is not an option right now. Does anyone know if Kentucky law gives any provisions for reimbursment for things purchased to clean up this problem? I have so far spent over two hundred dollars in bags and other cleaning supplies. I'm still not sleeping well, and am experiencing bites again. I believe the bugs are now in my carpet all over my apartment. I don't know what to do, I'm at a loss. Anyone with any advice please help!

Hi Sunshine,
I feel your pain. You've got a renowned entomologist right in your backyard who specializes in bedbugs: Michael Potter at the University of Kentucky.http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef636.asp
I bet if you call him you can get some questions answered. Also do a search on this bedbugger.com site for "Kentucky" and you'll find some references & threads that might apply to your area.
Good luck!

Anyone with any advice please help!I am not a lawyer. That said, I have not heard of any laws which require landlords to pay out over expenses surrounding a bed bug infestation (besides the actual pest control -- and of course, many places do not require landlords to pay for that either).
I have heard of people going to court (perhaps small claims court in this case). But keep in mind, in most cases it is impossible to pinpoint the cause of the problem. Your landlord may feel you brought bed bugs in (even if there is no definitive evidence that this is so) and may resent having to pay additional costs on top of treatment.
Finally, with all due respect to stricken, I would not call an entomologist to ask questions about local laws regarding pest control or other issues. Entomologists specializing in bed bugs are busy people. Some of them participate in our forum. But I don't think calling them up with general questions is the best idea. Questions about local laws would be better directed elsewhere.
Remember for questions about whether landlords pay for treatment, your local library's reference desk is an awesome source -- they can help you look up any local laws and ordinances. You can probably find out how to go to small claims court via the county website -- if you really want to pursue that. Local free legal aid services also exist everywhere. A google search or phone book will usually help.

Oops, sorry! I was thinking of him for a PCO recommendation but the same goes for that. As Nobugs says, an entomologist is probably too busy to field those types of calls. I take it all back. I will stop giving advice, I've been off-base lately. Lack of sleep, I suppose...
