    Hi fellow bugged out friends,

it's been foever since I've been here. but on the eve of my infestation (well back in 2006 thanksgiving night) I found this and angry...
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_localnyc/bedbugs-invading-nyc-classrooms-at-an-alarming-rate?bcmt=38035045#mwpphu-comment-38035045

before I go on about the above, I'd like to tell all you new warriors who I am.

on thanksgiving night, back in 2006, I was comming down with a bad cold. while I lived with my girlfriend of many years, we desided that I should stay at my father's house since my girl had cancer and it would not be good for me to sleep there. sadly, by the time I got to his home, I was so sick that I just passed out on the couch.

I woke up around 3am with my right arm so itchy that I couldn't take it and jump out of my seat. I woke up to around 50 bites on just my right arm!!!!! knowing that my sister had bedbugs, and she stayed there some months before to get a good nights sleep, I started looking around for any bugs and found a few.

while I found this site that night (or should I say morning) and learned what I could do, I still hired a bad PCO and wound up having to combat the bastards all by my self.
do you ladys know what it must have been like to pack up stuff, declutter this home, do 30 loads of laundry and so on with a fevor of 103???? all while being screemed at by an 85yo dad to stop emptying his dresser draws of cloths and stuff?
my father had no clue what was going on before I arived. so it was bad when I got here.
my dad's bed was infested. so was the couch. I found bedbugs trying to reach this desk that I'm typing on right now and it looked grim.

back then even good PCOs barely understood how to combat them.
the news barly touched the topic unless the writer wound up getting them. our mayer down played the issue as no big deal...after all, this was NYC we have roaches the size of small dogs here.
the schools, firehouses, and police stations were all getting hit hard with bedbugs. but would the mayor listen? F@#& NO!

durring my fight I could not sleep. it took every ounce of corage to get back on that couch, knowing that I was going to get bit. but it was the only way to KILL the bugs. it was nuts as I'm sure you all know. my father was bait in the bedroom, and that cleared up quickly. but that couch was hell. so many cans of D-Force later and drione dust helped clear it up...but it took months.

all the while I was unable to visit my girl for fear of bringing them to her.
I MISSED CHRISTMAS TO THE BLOOD SUCKERS!!!!!!!
I wouldn't let family to the house. I dreaded going anyplace. thank god it was winter so no one saw my bites. it was hell I tell you.

    to be continued....

sadly, my dad passed away just as I was almost done with them. yet I still dreaded having family over. what would happen if they sat on the coutch and brought the bugs home with them? /cry

I can't say enough about all the old timers that were on all night to here my crys for help. I see some names have been changed in my old posts so I will silently thank them without naming them.
God bless you NBOM. you helped this US ARMY vet combat my worst nightmare in my whole life...all while keeping me as sane as could be.

folks, it's basicly thanksgiving again and I remember what it was like to be all alone without any help.
to be the outcast of my friends. to have so many bits on my body that I still have scars.

things have totaly changed since I've been here. yet I know that it is still hard on every victim. and you, you are not only the victim of the bugs, but a victim of our polititions who lie and downplay this madness that the whole USofA is dealing with.
you are lucky. you found this site. members here will help you when no one else will. others are not so lucky. many have no idea about this site.
others are sending their children to infested schools and teachers are bringing the bugs home with them...all while "We do not have infestations," spokeswoman Margie Feinberg said. "Education Department officials would not provide a list of all schools affected by bedbugs, stressing that a confirmed case can be the discovery of a single bug."

little do they know that once you see a bug, there probably are hundreds that you can't see.

"Still, the number of cases in schools has been ballooning for years. A 2010 report by the New York City Bed Bug Advisory Board said there were 426 cases during the 2008-2009 school year, double the number of the previous year."
"To prevent the spread at some affected schools, students and teachers are putting coats and bookbags into plastic containers and bags, a procedure adopted at PS 197 in Midwood, Brooklyn."
"They insist there isn't an epidemic since schools have few beds and, therefore, have not become breeding grounds."

realy? no an epidemic? then why is PS 197 think otherwise and are putting coats and bookbags in plastic bags? you gata love our school officals.

in the end, with all the BS that is still going on, at least I've been bug free for the last 5 years.
it gets better folks. maybe you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. but trust me, it will get better.
you will get your life back. the nightmare will end.

well, at least it will end until you get reinfested because no one will take this seriously.

A Happy Thanksgiving to you...congrats on being bug free for 5 years.

I can't wait to get my life fully back...just tonight I was in a restaurant with my family and felt incredibly edgy because of the booths that we sat in. Pathethic. These stupid bugs take over...but not forever.

    Your story is indeed helpful.

    bugged in brooklyn,

thanks so much for sharing. my partner and I are fighting these ourselves too, with vacuuming, DE and nearly daily drying of our bed linens, climbups, an air mattress, alcohol spray and we're buying a steamer. It's totally insane. 2 pco's, one vikane and one dog clear later, we still have them. We've decided it's us against them. No one coming into a home for an hour every two weeks can rid these things without seriously poisoning humans and pets. Something needs to be done politically no doubt. We're all we got and I'm so glad you came back to tell me a success story. We'll be posting ours soon.

    bugged in buffalo,
    Amy

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting a success story. When you are in the middle of this plague, it is easy to lose hope. Many people drop off the forum and don't report their success. On a day where I and others are really struggling (lonely holiday) your post has been really encouraging. Thanks again and blessings to you.

So good to hear from you.

A blast from the past: one of the first Bedbuggers -- you have to understand, everyone: BIB was here before the forums, when people were posting and answering questions in Bedbugger blog posts with names like "Tales of Bed Bug Woe," and "Son of Tales of Bed Bug Woe."

(Comment threads like this one will help you understand why the forums were created five months after the site was started.)

Thanks so much for coming back and letting us know how you are -- and also giving people some inspiration.

*points at link* WHOLY FLASHBACK BATMAN!!!!!!

I remember all the girls from back then and all the great help and suport we gave to eachother back then in our time of need.
looking back, it's like we were in the "dark ages" while fighting the ememy. reaserching for cures, treatments, testing products (remember?), I think there was only one bedbug sniffing dog back at that time. steam treatments were brand new and not as tested as it is today. never mind trying to find something that gave the proper steam. we were riding on the seat of our pants to try anything to help on top of what our PCOs were doing at the time.
what did we use for electronics back then? a microwave? I used and tested the "pile everything on the flore near where I slept and use residues surounding it to forcing them to walk across the pestisides to reach my blood...it was like, "dinner time you bastards, come and get your last meal!!!!"
now we have Packtight? OMG, how easy is that get folks? lol

do you know that one of the ladys from that post sent me a can of D-Force and a bottle of Kleen-Free just after I spent my last penny I had to put my dead dad in the ground? 7 grand it cost me right when I'm nearing the end of my infestation. she wouldn't even let me pay her back. she told me that I should just "pay it foward", and that's what I've been doing since then, even if it's not alway on this forum.

I'm quietly the bedbug expert where I live and people do hunt me down at times (as far away as the Bronx). so it's not like I've been away from this issue all this time.
the last was just 6 months ago of an ex-coworker who I insected his apartment to discover that they might be comming from his wall and next door neibor. turns out the bum next door had an infestation 10 times as bad as I had. no, make that 20 times as bad!!!

as you may or may not remember, I'm one of the people who even after all this time can not stay here too long because I start to get itchy just thinking about such things and all last night I was scratching my hands and legs. yes, totaly psychological on my part, and it's always been that way with me...so it wasn't the chemicals that was doing it back then, it was just what them bastards did to my brain!
so you know if I say that I'm more then willing to stop by from time to time, I can never last long here for my own mental health.

gata go, it's the holiday...I'll speck more when I have time.
