KQ, OTHERS...Need Advice on when to Vikane furniture...
(3 posts)-
Well you may know from previous post that car is being treated right now with Nuvan strip for three weeks, and hopefully will get some treatment at work. The house is sooo much better now after 6 treatments, but there is still evidence in kitchen chairs and sofa. These seem to be the last OBVIOUS harborages.
I've found out I can have that furniture put into a uhaul and vikaned. My concern is bringing them back into the house and them being reinfested. A dilemma as I just don't know about the timing. I did see a live but exhausted semi adult a week ago, and there are nymphs but mostly in the area around the infested furniture. I've been steaming and bedlaming my dressers and shelves, but the sofa is an overstuffed antique and the chairs are tricky (and yes, I could replace any of those but run the same risk of reinfestaton. I try to be saintlike about not sitting on one to the other and the bed is isolated and blissfully bug free (in dishes of oil.
Your advice is needed and welcome. Thank you.

I would not spend money on fumigating items that could/would only be re-infested if the structure is not eradicated of bugs. What is not there today can be tomorrow. Kick ass on the bugs the old fashion way. Good luck! KQ

Thanks KQ, that's what I was wondering, however the sofa has really proven to be difficult.
I'll post a pic. It's like BB Cancun, it's got everything, piping, buttons, tucking, down filled (and I did packtite the damn cushions for like 6 hours each!) It's just a red velvet underground for those little demons. It's been steamed and poisoned from underneath, sprayed, steamed again, ?? Isn't it true that as long as it's infested my house will be too? Can't figure out how to purify it without turning to Vikane? What if I gassed it and didn't sit on it till the house was determined clean.
It's a chicken and the egg thing??
