Hello. So firsts first, I live in a two story old (wood) home with my family. this house has never before had any problems with bedbugs.
But a few weeks ago, me and my aunt started awaking up with bites. She has seen the bugs on her bed. I have not.
In her room it seems like classic case of beg bugs, while with me i have only ever seen a tiny baby bed bug, and nothing else. no fecal matter, and no stains.

well we did research and cant really afford exterminators, plus we have two cats and a dog, so we doint want to use poison.

we want to wipe these things out while the infestation seems not that bad. our beds/pillows are covered, we are washing all the bedding.
cleaning our cloths, setting up tape barriers at doors/around bed legs

I am using a mixture of rubbing alcohol and essential oils to spray around and on my bed(almost daily)
Im putting on natural bug repellant on nightly before bed (this seems to be working for me)
we plan on doing a thorough cleaning of the rooms affected and treat it with rubbing alcohol/essential oils and use DE as well.

Do you think this will work?
any advice on ways to kill them/treat our home that wont cost us allot and be safe with out pets?

If you can't afford a professional (and who can, right?) some easy ways to keep bites down are:

Get high quality mattress covers for all of the beds.
Wash bedding often in hot water and throw into a hot dryer.
Vacuum every day and throw away the bag.
Put clothes into large ziplocs or other bags immediately after getting out of the dryer.
    Eliminate clutter.
Use a carpet steamer on your carpet and mattresses as often as possible.

I don't know much about the oils, but I'm giving you the tips that I was given by my exterminator.

    I am no expert either
    Hope you get relief soon.
I do know that essential oils can be toxic to cats.
    Good luck
