So I thought I'd leave NY again and visit a friend out of town. Thinking about bbs here and there but enjoying not sleeping with socks on my arms; or a hood on my head. I've been living with this for 2 years; Several PCOs; one that believes he's the best; actually learned about him on this forum; We've calked, sprayed, dusted, encased, I discovered last week I have 2 encasements on my boxsprings - I forgot that one. These little crapheads will not go because the house next store won't treat. So my once wonderful house that I always loved living in has become the place I least want to be. Therefore I visit friends in other places; N.J. was last week-end. Well this scenerio is not working for my family. So for now I need to be here. Anyway, last night I returned home from the airport and found a cluttered house; carpet that hadn't been cleaned and best of all - a happy, jumpy bb on the counter in the bathroom. I choked it and this rage came up inside of me. I so wanted this invader dead, dead and more dead. I went into my depression, cried and tormented my family as I usually do when I find them or get bitten. I rarely ever find them when I'm here. Always vacuuming - and drying clothes. There's a wooden cabinet beneath the bathroom sink so I threw everything outof it this morning and tonight will dust ever so lightly. It also could have come from my daughter's room but nothing has been seen in her room anywhere. Tonight my husband and I talked about how unhappy I am living here although he doesn't quite get it. He's not the one who gets bit and goes bonkers; but on the other side it's my house. I will keep living here until I don't and I have no idea when that will ever be. I just don't want to go back to the panic stages of this and believe all I have in this world are crapheads in my house. I just started Cognitive Therapy - much needed - I just get so, so tired of it all......By the way going to visit a friend out of town every other week just doesn't make them go away; but it is nice to relive a time when I was free.

    Betty,

Have you tried contacting your local health department?

I mean, if you've been battling them that long, and you're sure they're coming from an adjacent structure, it would seem to me that there must be some government body you can appeal to.

It's true that some neighbor nuisance issues are hard to deal with. (for example, apparently in my city to report a barking dog as an issue, you essentially have to get at least three neighbors to agree to sue the dog owner to get the city to move on it), but vermin seem to me a clear public health issue.

If you haven't contacted them, I would try the health department first. Be prepared to provide plenty of documentation of the duration of the infestation and the steps you've taken to try to treat it.

If your local health department won't move, perhaps contacting your city councilperson/city supervisor/etc.

Two years if you own your own home seems longer than any city government could reasonably expect. If it's a multi unit building with a home owners/condo owners association, you might be able to appeal to the board of that. (I'm sorry I can't remember the particulars of your structure/your general location.)

I have tried contacting everyone and even a lawyer who said this is a very difficult situation. No rights if you own your home - only for tenants. At least with bbs. Maybe one day that will change; however not the case presently. We just keep doing the best we can - I dust and clean and whatever; my husband calks and more of whatever; My PCO does his thing and together we keep what would be a huge infestation relatively controllable. Doesn't change however, the periodic panic and anxiety. If anyone has any other ideas - please share

Is the neighboring house connected to yours, or is it separate?

To blargg and NoBB just to make sure you're aware in case you hadn't noticed, BettyV4's thread is from December 2009 so her story may already have evolved quite a bit since then.

    blargg,

Please look at the dates when threads are posted before replying. I know you're trying to be supportive, but the last user before you above replied in December 2009 as jrbtnyc noted.

Not only is the user unlikely to get any help from your efforts, but making an old thread active pushes recent posts down in the main forums page, making people who need help the most less likely to get it.

    Thanks for considering this!

I am closing this old thread so it does not receive further attention.
