Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Bed Bug Treatment
Is this a decent moving plan to avoid bringing bed bugs to a new home?

So after suffering through 3 bed bug infestations in a year and a half and a building that is entirely inept at treating them, I have decided it is time to move out. Here is my moving plan:
1) In my bed bug infested home, I went through all of my belongings, and decided which clothes/shoes/purses I want to keep. Everything else, including ALL my books, old clothes, furniture, paintings, electric cords, old electronics, mementos, etc. will remain in the apartment for the old building to dispose of.
2) Everything I am keeping was sent to a company that professionally washes and treats clothing and accessories that have bed bugs. They came and picked it up today in big plastic bags.
3)While I find an apartment, me and my cat will be staying at my dad's apartment building. Before setting foot in his apartment, I stopped at the building's laundry room and put my very small bag of clothing in the wash. I sealed the cat carrier in a garbage bag, and threw that out in the incinerator. I then held my cat in my hands while i got in the elevator, ran into the apartment, put us BOTH in the shower, stripped down and put my clothing in a plastic bag which i sealed, put on a clean pair of shorts and t shirt that belong to my dad, and then washed the cat. Thoroughly, with shampoo and water.
4) I then showered and changed into another clean set of clothing.
A few items, like my jewelry and a few ceramic and tin decorations, I am currently boiling at my old apartment in hot water, and then sealing in ziplock bags. I am planning on not opening the sealed bags of clean items until I am safely at my new apartment, which will be filled with brand new furniture. I have been using a small disposable bag as a purse, and keeping my items in there in ziplock bags. Since I spent today at my apartment with the bed bugs, I plan to buy a cheap new outfit, and change my clothes in the laundry room to avoid bringing anything into the apartment.
Okay. Thoughts please. Also, what do i do about my computer and kindle?

If I were you, I think if possible it would be a good idea to treat your new place with a residual before moving in, so that if you do happen to bring a scraggler it will hopefully come across the poison when searching for you, and die.
