Is this a carpet beetle, bed bug or other?
(8 posts)-
Hi,
I have been using a bed bug beacon monitor because both myself and my daughter's dad travel so much for work. This morning I found this on the outside of the monitor around the bottom rim. It looks like a smooshed but in two pieces but I can't tell if it is a carpet beetle, bed bug or other. Help would be greatly appreciated! Of course, I am really hoping it is not a bed bug!

I say no
but a second opinion on here would be good... -
Certainly not a bed bug ... I can't make out what it is.

Millimeter marks indicate very small size but I think nevertheless could be a cockroach, the common Blattella germanica (is that correct Lou, not Periplaneta germana), first stage.
Compare this photo, item on the right...

...but two little appendages on rear end, called cerci, are evident whereas lacking in your photo so anyone else's speculation would be still welcome.

Hi,
100% not bedbugs, 100% not carpet beetles.
On closer inspection I am not even sure its insect based, it looks more plant based to me.

correct- not bed bug or carpet beetle. not sure what it is. If you want to send me the specimen, I can try to come up with a determination.

Thanks all. The fact that it is not a bedbug is very reassuring. I would be very much helped if some of you "PCO experts" would tell me how you could tell? I'd like to learn. Being concerned is not much fun!

Ok but can't respond till later when I am online.
However to spin the table why do you think it could have been a bedbug?
