Is this a bedbug??! Help please!(8 posts)
I was in a hotel last night and saw a bug crawling on the sheet around 4:30 a.m. I took a video and pics with my phone. I scooped it into a coffee cup and put that in a ziploc bag. After changing rooms, I couldn't go back to sleep worrying that others hitched a ride in my bags.
i'm no expert but we have experts here who will, no doubt, look at your photo and video and tell you if it's a bb or not.
i'm tending to think that it is not a bb...but like i said...i'm not positive. I'm getting the feeling that it's one of those book louse insects. It's sort of long in the rump, huh? But then the color of the thing bothered me because i thought book lice were not so dark as your critter....But then i saw this picture and am tending to think it's a book louse again.
I hope i'm correct.
It is not a BB. Looks like a beetle but as I zoom in I can't move the pic left so the sample goes off the screen.
Look for a split down the center of the abdomen. Google elytra to see what I'm talking about. No BB has that.
Kwski1, that is not a bed bug. It looks like some sort of beetle.
looks like spidey beat me to it
Thank you for the fast responses! It is stressful to wake up in the middle of the night in a hotel with what I thought was a bedbug. We already had them hitch a ride on our bags and went through treating our house and a 100+ loads of clothes just a few months ago.
In my opinion, it's a specimen of confused beetle (Tribolium confusum)

I hear ya Kwski1 - I posted a photo of what turned out to be some kind of innocent "regular bug." But what the **** it was doing crawling across my bed at midnight while I was suffering from bedbug-induced-hysterical-insomnia, I'll never know.
