we were carefully unpacking boxes that we packed before thermal treatment.
they were checked before we sealed them by our trusty beagle
but unknown to me my partner packed every photo and sentimental piece of paper she ever had- - and that was a lot of boxes!!
so everything is going into the packtite anyway

i think this might have been crawling around the garden anyway
but could have come out of the contractor bag

i don't really think this is a bedbug- but too nervous to let it go
and won't kill something unless it is truly a threat to me
as i hate to take a life needlessly

this site has been a lifesaver!

Not a BB. Toss it in the garden.

    It is a beetle.

Just curious Sean what kind of beetle do you think that is? I thought the head was beetleesque but didn't see the elytra seam which is my main target to toss something into the beetle category.

Only thing I was sure of was it not being a BB.

    No, it's not a beetle.
It's a nymph of a burrowing bug (family Cydnidae)

Doesn't it look like it has a tattoo of itself (going in the other direction) on its back? That's kind of neat.

A sort of mise en abyme...

(I need to get out more!)

Huh! I learned something (non-bed-bug-related) new here today! I never knew there was an actual term for such a thing.

    Thanks!

Adele, what do you think bed bugs would get as tattoos if they got them?

    Little pictures of their conquests?
    Hypodermic needles?
    Mom?
