I read that dogs are used to loacte bedbugs. Are they not visible? Can't you see them? I thought so but I am reading that they cannot be seen. Is this true? or it is the eggs that cannot be seen?

that does not answer it. may be i am not clear. is locating them an issue? how does one locate them? looks like when people look they are not there, making detection an issue? is that not the reason dogs are used?

    Hi John,

The FAQ I linked to above says,

They ... hide well. They can be very thin (like a piece of paper) and can slip into cracks. They may be hiding in places you do not think anything can get into.

Bed bugs are not invisible but will often harbor in places you can't see them so that makes them hard to detect. You have to learn to search. The guides under Comprehensive Guides in the Resources page can help you learn to look, as can this FAQ with photos of bed bugs and signs of bed bugs.

Sometimes dogs can be a useful tool in determining where bed bugs are, but all dogs and handlers are not equally skilled. Make sure you read this FAQ on canine scent detection if you're considering hiring a dog. Choose a team where the handler visually verifies alerts by searching for and finding evidence after the dog says its there. Otherwise, it's hard to know if you have bed bugs or a false positive.

In the section on Detection in the FAQ I linked to in the previous response, you will find a number of options for monitors (some quite inexpensive) which can detect bed bugs. These can be very helpful in determining if you have a problem.

I tore up my room and can't seem to find them anywhere. Beds are covered too. Had My home heat treated along with DE yet one week later I have what I think might be bites on thigh
