Is just drying effective?
(5 posts)-
I have some clothes that I'm hesitant to wash in hot water for fear of shrinkage and whatnot. So my question is: Is it effective to put dry, already clean clothes in the dryer on the highest setting without having washed them? My thinking is that this has to kill the BBs, because it's basically the same treatment that is recommended for pillows, stuffed animals, etc.
Also, suggestions for leather items and shoes? I really like my clothes and don't want to ruin them :)

For shoes, etc., there are racks for dryers, or the pack-tite device. If you put leather in a dryer, securely wrap the items in a pillow-case or similar, or you'll end up with marks all over the drum. Be extra mindful of the time you keep the items on (an IR thermometer is a good investment). -
Cilecto is right about just drying the items if they are already clean. Heat is the real weapon, and dryers are an easy way to get items up to the thermal death point.
If it's within you budget, the Packtite is another option. I don't have one myself (they didn't exist yet when I fought my bed bug fight), but people here have reported putting dry clean only items in them to rid the items (including shoes, books, purses, and bags that aren't able to be put in a dryer) of bugs and having the items come out unharmed.

How much is a packtite? And where do you get one usually?
