So my dog came and verified that we have bb's . now the pco said they fog and steam. but I think I remember reading somewhere that fogging is not a good idea. Should I still use this pco?? they do 3 treatments and have a 60 day guarantee. and also the dog comes back to make sure no more bb's. and if the dog alerts then they treat again.

I was never crazy about the idea of fogging... but do you think the 60 day guarantee is a good enough assurance?

    Hi,

I would ask them exactly what they mean by fogging and ask them to comment on the following article:

    http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef643.asp

If its the same process and they still want to go ahead with it then I would suggest you look at your options.

This artcile was written in 1999 and still some PCO's have not got the message.

thanks for the article. I think I read something very similar to it. I did ask them if they use any other method and they said no. Is there a difference between fogging and fumigation??

    Hi,

Yes a major one although to be frank most people mix the two terms up a lot.

Fogging is technically the use of cartridges that are ignited and fill the room with a dusty fog. Fumigation is the process of using a machine to create a ultra fine insecticidal mist in the area.

I will only fumigate in situations where the property or treated area is isolated and there is no risk that fumigation will not send the bugs into adjoining properties or rooms.

Technically Vikane gas is a form of fumigation and some report good results with it.
