Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Detection / Identification of bed bugs
is anyone else here wondering how you can know if they are really gone?

These bugs are so small and they generally don't turn up during the day--and bites are not evidence and can turn up days after you are exposed.
So--how do you know when they are really gone? I have had two PCO treatments and have vikaned and stored my furniture. I'm getting my neighbors inspected.
I have vaseline on the legs of the cot that I am sleeping on (the only furniture left in the apartment) and have isolated the bed.
PCO says they generally get good control after 2 treatments. It's been a month....I have no idea as to whether or not they have been eradicated.
How can I ever be sure about this?
I am prepared to have a third treatment if I need it but how can I even tell?

I wonder the same thing. My Mom and I had an infestation last spring and then found a bug (but no bites) in december. After two treatments I am not sure if the bugs just haven't found us yet or if they are dead. I think the only way to be sure is time. Unfortunately time also allows the infestation to grow. Maybe someone else can give you an answer, I'll be eager to hear what it is.

Hi,
The best way to know they are gone is to get into the habit of monthly inspections and look for faecal traces as you deep clean your sleeping area.
If you don't see any new faecal traces then there are no bed bugs about to leave them.
This is however a situation where passive and active monitors will play a significant role when they are all available.
