Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » General Topics
I'm not sure if I still have BB's or if I'm just being paranoid!
(1 post)-
May of 2011 I started dating my current boyfriend who had an unfinished basement bedroom in a town house in Baltimore City. I started to notice these welt like bites on my arms and legs when I would stay the night with him. I wrote it off as misquito bites since the weather was hot and he wasn't getting bit. One morning I woke up and found a rather large bug on my chest, I squished it and blood came out of it, it was a bed bug. Because he hadn't been getting bit he didn't realize he had them until I came along, and we would soon find out that the infestation was horrible. We ended up throwing out his mattress, couches and sealed the cracks in the wall where you could see dozens of nests clearly. About 3 months later he moved into an upstairs bedroom but the battle continued, they were all through the house! We eventually had them pretty tamed to where I wasnt getting bit and we couldnt see them. That August we got into a bad car accident so I stayed with him for a week to take care of him. After the week I went home to my parents house and layed down to go to sleep in my bed when I felt a tickle at my arm. I shined the light from my cellphone on my bed and saw two tiny bed bugs, I had brought them home with me! Devastated I jumped up moved my pillow and about five of them came pouring out of my pillow case. I grabbed everything up and threw everything in the dryer. I inspected my mattress and saw a few more. I sat there and cried. I knew how difficult this process was going to be since I've been trying to help my boyfriend with his problem now I have a problem at my parents house at that. So I did the usual protocol. Vaccummed, sprayed, put my clean clothes in plastic bags, purchased mattress cases for my mattress and box spring, got rid of anything I was suspicious of and moved my bed to the center of my room and left it like that for about 4 months and sprayed everyday. I haven't seen one or been but so I decided it would be ok to move my bed back. That December on Christmas day, I moved a roll of wrapping paper from the corner of my room and saw a bug. I immediately started spraying everyday again and layed down a bed bug powder along my baseboards and in corners and still haven't been bit. It's now June 2012. I haven't seen a bug in my house since Christmas day nor have I been bit since September. Last night I noticed two bites on my arm. I don't know if it's a bed bug or because I went on a hike the day before. I'm still very paranoid, jumping out of bed in the middle of the night and investigating my bed even though I find nothing. I'm moving soon and I'm scared that if by some chance I still have them I may take them with me. My boyfriend still sees an occasional bed bug because of his neighbors having the problem too but I'm careful to put my things up high on his dresser so they don't hitch a ride back home with me and I put NOTHING on the floor. Any advice to anything I have written would be reassuring. Thanks.
