I am going to test this for a week or so and elicit your feedback.

I am not sure I like the idea of letting people "ignore" other members. There may be good advice coming from someone you are annoyed by. You may have good advice for someone who is annoyed by you. You can see how this could mean you miss out on something.

Nonetheless, I am putting it out there, since it's possible, and because a few people have had conflicts recently.

Please think carefully before ignoring someone. Seriously. This is not to be used lightly.

If you click the new "Ignore this person" button under their name / member class, you will not longer see their posts.

You CAN remove this anytime by clicking their member class ("member" "newbite" etc.) and removing the "ignore".

Oh, and you can't ignore me, sorry!

Respond on this thread if you have questions, think it's a good idea, or a bad one. I'd like to know if I should keep or remove it.

    Thanks!

Post Updated 11/19 at 3:21 am.

    Done and undone. Experiment over.

Still, these crazy cats are amusing themselves below, so I am not closing the thread.

    Hi,

Could it possibly not be in red?

I just find that the red stands out and tempts me too much to press the button. I would never have been safe with the nuke controls not that many of the presidents have been much better (good luck to the new one).

Yes-- it is just red temporarily so everyone sees it.

Do you know if your being ingnored? (I will suffer ego damage - lol)

It seems to me like all the conflicts I've seen have ended w/ apologies, I'm afraid if ppl ignore each other they will miss the opportunity to kiss and make up :)

Nonetheless if ppl are feeling harrased I think ignoring may be a good option.

I thought I had an opinion, but now I'm on the fence - :)

Gee, I must have missed out on the fireworks, but if things got that heated, I guess you should keep it. BTW, I hope that vampiremenionprey didn't do the "ignore" thing on me and got my message in his or her DE thread.

Hee, hee, bugbattler, you make me laugh. Though admittedly my first reaction was "how many people are going to ignor me?". I feel so insecure lately.

David, I like your quote! Glad to see you decided to go with adding them to your signature!

Well - I guess it is good if you truly cannot tolerate specific posts.... however, with our emotions so fragile in this war, I don't think I'll ignore anyone! As long as you can remove the iggy when you are less sleep deprived, it may be a good idea. No matter how heated..I still learn from the posts.

    Hi All,

Okay, I need to test something and I need your help. Can someone please tell me if they are ignoring someone else (via PM please to avoid drama!) As admin, I will be able to see on your profile if you're avoiding anyone, and I will not tell them.

However, I want to make sure everything goes well.

    Thanks!

I will not say who or why other than it's a test of the syetm.

I can see the bed bug lonely heart post now.

Sarcastic male professional with good standing in the community seeks facetious female for traumatic insemination and infestation of the world.

PS on the subject of the ignore button can we also get an easy unignore button, I have just realised I actually miss the posts of one of the people I am ignoring

LOL you don't know how close that one is to the truth, although one of my technicians seems to have better luck than me, we keep sending him to properties occupied by topless models. Annoyingly for him it is in his contract that he is not allowed to date customers until they have been at least 3 months clear of bed bugs.

PM me if you want my work yahoo ID to catch up on the humour when I am in the office. I am setting up a tablet PC field diagnostic system but recon it could also be used to broadcast from the field as it were.

If a tree falls in cyber space but is being ignored does it still send an e-mail.

And while traumatic insemination may sound intrging and evokes images of cimex de sade
in a little leather outfit, it may be one of the factors that cause individual bed bugs to move away from typical harborage sites.

Since you asked, I will say that I don't know that I'm comfortable about there being an ignore feature here. It sort of lends a "chat room" element to this forum whereas I think this website is much much more than just a chat room. Meanwhile, I'd like to say that I'm very grateful for the information available here and I imagine everybody else is too.

    Hi tisisaidthefly,

The feature is not in place anymore. I put it up for a few days because there was a conflict between some members.

I agree with you that it is not a good idea -- on a forum where someone you don't particularly like might have a suggestion you need to hear.

You are in luck, there are several pictures of me working in the book and as always I am in leathers.

Its not easy to do given the current heat wave in London but I am working on the theory that it may get hot enough to kill any bed bugs on me, particularly as my van has no AC and lets face it what could be hotter than me in leathers, especially as I have also had all my hair shaved off.

Wish me luck its paper suit job today and for the next few days.
