Hi -- This just bit me on the arm (indoors, in a restaurant). Crawling not flying. Pretty certain it's not a bed bug, but have absolutely no idea what it is. Bite swelled up quickly like a mosquito bite.

Would very much appreciate if Lou or any of the experts can identify it. Just want to make sure it's not something I have to worry about possibly carrying home with me (like lice), or could make me sick. I'm in Taiwan.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Clearer images may be needed. The angle you take from can help a lot, if you take images with the samples straight and from above its easier to get a good focus over the length of the sample.

The length of what appears to be antennae makes me think roach first but the legs do see to be odd for roaches.

    Hope that helps.

Many thanks David. Have added a couple more from directly overhead and with flashlight on. Also rotated the insect's body to show different angles.

Roaches don't bite right? It was definitely a mozzie style bite, briefly quite painful, but the insect doesn't look anything like a mozzie and appeared to be crawling (at least, made no attempt to fly off before I grabbed it, and didn't appear to have wings).

    Hi,

    Thanks for the new images.

I am going to go back on what I said because the new images show legs that are more spider like than anything else.

It may be that its a local species so ID may be harder though Lou has always been awesome with my holiday shots.

    David
