ID request: fecal spot smear?(4 posts)
just enrolled on the forum, first let me offer congratulations to all people animating this forum and administering it: great job!
I would like to ask opinions on identifying this streak I found on my sheets near the pillow last night
It originally consisted of a very small and "tarry" ball, which smeared in the way you can see when I tried touching it in the morning (I have seen there is some kind of debate if bb fecal matter should smear or not). The color is blackish to reddish brown.
I conducted an inspection and failed to find any bugs but my bed area is super-cluttered (I am moving on that). I am suspicious as I was in bb-infested hotel two weeks ago, and although I have been careful ... (I had them 10 years ago somewhere else and been kind of bb-paranoid since ... )
Thanks in advance,
Did you ever discover if you had bed bugs? I just found the same type of thing in my son's bed today and am worried.
I hve had a look at the images and although the are dark pictures when you look at then on a phone the lighter ones are clear enough to say its extremely unlikely to be faecal. It has the finer properties of something that has been dragged rather that faecal which is a depositing action.
I would not classify this as confirming of bedbugs and if the rest of your search is clear I would be hopeful of remaining that way if you inspect again after 7 days.
The FAQ's are a good education on what to look for.
Bed Bugs Limited
I had a large amount of fecal matter on my bed frame that the PCO pointed out. Rather than a "streak," it was more like a cluster of dark dots.
I agree with David Cain. It does seem to look as if something was dragged across. Perhaps you killed a bug in your sleep?
Through reading the FAQ's, I did a few things. At night, around 3am, I would turn the lights on or use a flashlight. By doing so, I was able to find numerous bb's. I'm no professional but I'm thinking they are scattering because I had treatment last week. Most of them are taking position on the ceiling and about twenty minutes ago (5:10pm) I found one in the open, which was on my ceiling.
Get rid of the clutter so you'll have an easier time finding evidence. Good luck brother!
