Thanks in advance. Here's the story. He is 3.2 mm. Brownish, and we found one in the bed and one in the kitchen, both when the lights were on. Questionable whether or not we actually have bites or are imagining them.
This one is still alive if that makes a difference. He has a distinct line going down the length of his back in the center.
We are leaning towards carpet beetle (read: please not a bedbug).

I can tell you it's definitely not a bedbug and that it's some sort of beetle

Looks like Stegobium paniceum, an anobiid beetle, called a drugstore beetle or biscuit beetle.
Sort of see its antennae in your images.
