ID- Help! Is this a bed bug?
(10 posts)-
I just found this thing in my bathroom, crawling up the wall. I've been getting bites on my right arm (the arm I sleep on) since March 20th but have not found ANY signs of bed bugs until this-- if this is a bed bug. It's pretty round and quite hard. I'm sorry the picture isn't very good I don't have a real camera with me in New York.

I'm really freaking out any help is appreciated.

I'm no expert, but there's no way... the legs are way too long and thick
-
Hmm, that sounds encouraging. Do you have any idea of what it could be? These mystery bites are really wracking up my anxiety.
-
"Weird-ass beetle" is as close as I can get, lol
Is it bulbous, or flat? Bedbugs are very flat, like near paper thin, unless they have just fed
-
Also, they go splat pretty easily on hard surfaces (as the little stains on my wall attest), they aren't hard at all
As for the bites, are you sure you're getting them at night in your bed? I mean, they could come from elsewhere in the house, but if you've noticed no fecal stains, no blood stains on the sheets, and caught no bugs... I might ask a doctor if they can identify the bites

It's pretty bulbous, how round do bed bugs who have just fed get? Could this bug be that?

I usually notice the bites after I shower, but some people on these forums have said that bed bug bites flare up after showering. We have a lot of mosquitos in our apartment so this whole thing is really frustrating and hard to figure out.

I have same issue with the shower and bites.
I really just don't think it's a BB. They wouldn't be crawling around after feeding, in any case, but would be holed up. Still, I wouldn't trust me, but rather wait for some of the entomologists on this forum to weigh in

Did you read the FAQ about Spider Beetles? They're definitely not BBs.
-
And it's definitively a spider beetle...
