ID Help? And an existential question...

Found this guy alive, on top of my comforter, around 10:30pm. I'm super paranoid, and so don't trust my eyes at all anymore. Took the best photos I could with the phone (and the first one for size comparison, that's the font on a direct mail postcard thing).

Is it?
As for other signs -- nothing on the sheets or mattress. Had Terminex inspection out last week for another scare and he found no evidence of anything. I do have lots of itchy bites, but all are very tiny, no clusters, and since I've had BB before, I can say that the bites I have now are nothing like the ones I had then.
But I'm paranoid. Always paranoid. Does that ever go away? How can you create a bug free zone -- or at least one in your head?

Not a bed bug .... Looks to be a beetle

Lucky bastard

Yes, a beetle. Could be a stored product beetle, an anobiid species. You can check pantry items, spices, and potpourri, too.

mlandri1,
To answer your question, in my experience, and that of others who've shared their
experiences with me, with time, your head will become a mostly bed bug-free zone.As you get further away from having had them, you will stop thinking about them all of the time. If you are in a situation again where you suspect bed bugs, you may become temporarily hypervigilant, but this should go away in time when the immediate concern seems to pass.
Some people seem to find this change occurring more slowly than they'd like, and some have reported finding a therapist helpful.
