Okay. I'm losing it and really need help. paulaw0919 posts

I hope journalists are reading the paulaw0919 posts instead of interviewing the same professionals over and over again. This is how bad a bed bug infestation is. This is the hell that many people are experiencing right now throughout our country. Maybe it is easier to report the same thing over again instead of doing some real reporting.

This is the real thing baby! Do a story on this!

I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to be interviewed!!!!! I read in the paper last week that some lady spent a little over $2000 and she is BB free now. SHe was lucky. We didn't know what hit us. I'm very clean in my home and obviously that doesn't matter. I was to stupid to see the signs and now we are PAYING DEARLY!!! IN the first month we blew out emergency savings of $5700. Now between laundry, dry cleaning, expenses of chemicals, bags, thown out thousands of $$ if items to declutter and the "just in case" fact....Furniture loss, expenses of eventually replacing that furniture and six mattresses.....(guest room had two, three kids and us) This has put us in the hole amost $19k at this point. If we don't rid them by the fall we have no choice but to trash everything but memorabilia store that in bags in a storage place, sell the house and start over!!! I can't keep on poisoning my children...

I estimate that my bed bug infestation cost is $8,000.00
Now remember that is $8,000 of my hard earned money after I have already paid my income tax on that money.
I forgot to add in Doctor bills.

I wonder if some of our Nations great journalists would have gone through this nightmare of a bed bug infestation in their home would we then see an article worth reading. It is easy to call the same professionals up and ask a few questions and get the same old answers that I have been reading in the press for months. I think for the most part we bed bug sufferers know just as much as most professionals know and then some. It is funny how even though many of us have been interviewed by journalists the journalists refuse to get the picture. Like I have said before, I am sure if journalsits really want a true picture some families that are suffering a bed bug infestation would gladly welcome them into their infested homes to spend a week or two and additionally maybe spend a week in an infested homeless shelter. The rapidly growing bed bug epidemic will effect more people and it is a matter of time untill someone such as a journalists home will become infested and their children will receive big itchy welts on their bodies and then they too will be reading this great informative site searching for remedies and sympathy.

ltdan...Last nite on the debates there was an Orkin commerical...( no mention of bed bugs) however, the commercial directly on the heels of the Orkin commercial was one for an itch creme Lanacane...It showed a man scratching his arm...and his wife telling him the Lanacane would work on his "arm itch"....This epidmeic is being kept under wraps...I have been saying this for over one year....and this is because imo, big business doesn't want it out in the open...and the flip side is that for some big business, its actuallly good ..Just think of all the pesticides that have to be reapplied over and over again...and the "itch" products...and the mattress covers and the cans of Raid and the need to replace mattresses...not only from individuals but entire hotels..The other side is what would happen to the accomodations industry if the public at large knew the real risks of getting bed bugs on their motel/hotel stays...or if they knew how many bed bugs were being found in cargo holds..or airline seatings...and the potential negative effect on those multi billions of dollars that Cruise ships pull in...No one seems to have the power to expose this epidemic....Even though I have seen three sets of mattressed thrown curbside, in my idyllic suburban community, people still don't "get it"....I always feel like a kook or a leper when I try and warn the innocents.....By the way, my bed bug infestaion cost so much its too painful to tally up.....the extermination costs alone were $5400.00 to one company and $900.00 to another company...( the first company wouldn't come back a third time for their $5400.00, so I hired a different one so that I could get three professional treatments )...Then there is the little matter of lost bedding and furniture...rugs...well into the thousands and thousands of dollars..and of course the expense of moving...thousands again...and I am still living without my furniture because it hasn't been 18 months yet...those bills are in excess of $500.00 per month....Last year when I was on the Yahoo Group, a young woman implied that "therapy" would help me.....I have to laugh still....At the time i was one of the few people who actually was a home owners...with a lifetime of belongings....so picking up and moving wasn't just a matter of a mattress , chair and laptop.,,.,it required a lifetime of belongings....This is an aspect of bed bugs that those reporters just don't understand......And now, when my husband and I should be relaxing more and enjoying our lives a little more, I find myself in a constant state of high alert....Just the simple act of taking clothes to the Dry Cleaners gets me nervous ( are they cleaning anyones bed bug infested clothes next to mine?? I wonder).....There are too many scars to tell of....Yesterday i had a man come over to estmate a tile job for my bathroom...He immediately honed in on the fact that my house was devoid of furniture.....I made some excuse..an he commented on the fact that it was so empty, it echoed.......I am concerned about his bringing bugs into my home..If I accept his estimate, I have decided to tell him...as I want him to know that I have a "bug problem"....Ok, here I go again, baring my soul...setting myself up for ridicule......The young lady on the Yahoo Group probably would still suggest therapy...( she also, early on scolded me for telling people to check their books for bed bugs - her reply was...They aren't called Book bugs..they are called Bed Bugs)...so much for listening to the advice of the clueless.....I know what I know...I know how this bedbug has damaged my peace of mind....You know that ...that part of the human being that has nothing to do with our health...peace of mind...Who needs it !!!
