Outdoor products are not approved for indoor use for several reasons.

Carbaryl is the AI in Sevin and not labeled for indoor useage.

Your suggestion poses many safety concerns.

I cannot support this use !

It is not the pesticideS that are the hazard, it is what the knuckleheads do with the pesticides that is the problem ! ! !

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS ! ! !

Williamwhitebird's post above suggests using a pesticide labeled for outdoor use only. It goes far beyond a bad idea and into the realm of danger.

So I decided to delete it.

Please be careful. Only use pesticides in strict accordance with labeling instructions.

This is true. If it weren't for the knuckleheads, we'd still be able to go down to the store and buy dursban for our home.

Oh, crap. BBBKY revived an 8-month old thread.

    Dear bbbk,

You wanted to read it? OK, here's what it said but "phrased somewhat differently my words" which will indicate why this original post was a bad idea, NOT good advice and can be dangerous:

Do NOT use products that are formulated for outdoor use.

Products formulated for outdoor use are usually much more odorous than those used for indoor use because they are intended for outdoor use where odor is not an issue.

Products formulated for outdoor use may not be formulated with staining and residue issues considered because there are no surfaces such as carpets, wall coverings, etc. outdoors and visible residues are not as great an issue either.

DO NOT USE EXTERIOR, GARDEN OR AGRICULTURAL PESTICIDE PRODUCTS INDOORS FOR BED BUGS OR ANY OTHER PESTS ! ! !

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS ! ! !

Hope this helps ! paul b.

    BuggedbyBugsKY,

This site generally has a VERY lenient moderation policy. We tend to allow posts which recommend bad ideas, and then people explain why these are not good ideas.

Occasionally, bad ideas are deleted, however, if we think people might read them and harm themselves before they even check out the responses.

This poster was recommending the use of a carbaryl insecticide labeled for outdoor use. And he not only trumpeted it as a great idea, but he told people to put it in their beds. Something that isn't safe even with most products labeled for treating bed bugs.

It may seem odd that I am now telling you what was in the deleted post, but I hope in context others will understand this is not a good idea. It's not safe for human health.

The fact is, lots of things will kill bed bugs. It takes knowledge and hard work to apply them (and usually some repeat treatments) but you don't need to use pesticides which are not intended for treating bed bugs indoors. The "knowledge" factor is why most experienced pros are going to do better than you and I, though it is possible to gain knowledge.

There is, however, no silver bullet, no magic pesticide which will completely solve anyone's problem with one application.
