Hi. Last night I found a bug nymph on my guitar cover that looked like the photos of bed bugs on this website. I believed that it was a bed bug, and unfortunately I killed it and disposed it away. Then I notified Housing's maintenance (I'm living in a college, and they are the ones who are dealing with bed bug infestation), and they called an inspector with a sniffing dog. They arrived in the morning. The dog did not find anything, including at the place where I found it last night.

So, what I am curious is whether a snuffing dog can detect a trail of a bed bug? How reliable are these sniffing dogs generally are? And what would you suggest me to do next?

By the way, I suspected that it was a bed bug because 3 rooms close to mine were previously infested and treated multiple times recently (about a week ago). And one of them was terribly infected, from what I've heard. Yet I have not gotten any bites, have not seen any eggs, any blood stain, any fecal spots, or any cast skin. I also inspected at potential hiding spots, but I found nothing.

This might seem overreacting, but I still got slightly paranoid from the past infestation. I hope I could detect them early if my room is actually infested.

    Thank you.
