Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Reader questions (do not fit into other categories)
I am totally infested and dont know what to do.. HELP
(6 posts)-
My bedbug problem started 3 months ago. I didnt realise just how serious the bedbug problem was, and how they are hard to get rid of.
I have no less than 100 scars on my arms ,back, and legs. They are now exclusivly attacking my face neck and head.My landlord had a traetment done about 2 months ago, but the bbs didnt come out for a week or so. He refused to do any more treatments, so I took it upon myself to self treat, and I have tried everything. The past few weeks, these things have come out with a vengence.. They bite nonstop even in the daytime.
I have hardly slept in 2 weeks, and I just cant take it anymore.
My rent is paid until the end of the month, and I am on a fixed income, so I cant get the hell out of here for 18 days,m because I cant afford it. I plan on leaving with just a bag of clean clothes, and starting off fresh.
I am new to the area and dont have any family or friends here in the area.
Does anyone havew any ideas on how I can get some sleep for the next 18 days, without getting bitten, or any other Ideas on how to solve my dillemma. I am very desperate at this point, and I am totally freaking out. Thanks in advance... -
Welcome & sorry. It really burns me that lls expect us to just live this way. To me this is criminal & fortunately in most states it IS criminal. Mass appears to be one of those. I found the below passage for you:
"COCKROACHES AND RODENTS: The landlord of a dwelling of 2 units or
more must maintain the unit free from rodents, cockroaches, and insect
infestation, and must be responsible for extermination."http://www.lectlaw.com/files/lat07.htm
The above is Mass state law. My advice is to first contact your local board of health. They will assume responsibility for enforcing the law. They can't say 'well I had it treated, that was my part' The word "extermination" clearly implies that the bugs need to be gone.
I wish I had advice for how to get some sleep. I think a lot of ppl here wear long sleeves and pants. Check the threads for sleeping tips. Sorry.
Best of luck to you :)

Have you read the FAQ on isolating the bed? A number of people here have had a lot of success being able to sleep by being able to keep the bugs from biting them at night.
My advice would be to start there:

Joe - where do you live? if you live in New Work - the landlord - by law must ERADICATE the bugs not just reat once. please don't despair you can fight back - it never ceases to amaze how uncaring soe of these landlords are. if you are in NYC please call 311 and get a housing inspector there. even if you are not in NY - you can call your local legal aid for an attorney who may pitch in to write a letter on your behalf to the landlord. and also rad this site and the section call FAQ for info on how to isolate your bed. let us know how it goes.

Joe...your in my prayers. Bed bugs are hard to repel so sleeping with long-sleeved shirts, jeans, and socks is how I did it for a while. Some still my find a way in but I felt it helped me. If you can go to a doctor if your bites are bad the doctor may be able to help you. Good luck and hang tough. You can find a way. Keep us all posted on how your doing.
Peace and Prayers Joe.
