As you all know I have been battling bedbugs and I consider the effort i've been taking as successful. I have yet to treat as we are cleaning out closets and such.

Well today we so happen to browse the internet to see how much the property we are living at is. As we was thinking of buying it.

Well buying is kinda not a option anymore.

What we have found out from the public records that the house I am living in. Has a basement... Not just any kind of basement. A FINISHED BASEMENT

This just blows the whole bedbug situation to a whole different level. Yet it makes all the sightings with bedbugs and other bugs alike more sense worthy. To put it quite simple the passageway to get to the basement had been sealed off but whatever past owner that lived here. Since this house was built in 1947...

Now I am under the assumption that maybe just maybe bedbugs may be coming up from the basement. We are 100% sure that roaches have been coming up. Though we have not seen any since we laid out some traps.

We are still going to treat the house but In the process we are looking to get another house. Most then likely a new house.

    Hi,

If the basement has not been occupied it is highly unlikely to be a potential source of bedbugs, the only cimex that would even be feasible is bat bugs but if this were the case you would not find any faecal traces in your property as they tend to return to normal food sources between meals.

Is the basement currently used? If no move on because it's a red herring.

Quite frankly I consider it unlikely they are coming up from the basement at this point. Though bedbugs can hibernate for a long time before getting another blood meal if circumstances enables it.

The basement is practically sealed off. We can't access it though from looking around the house it is obvious that it there. It's not really all that much of a concern of mines. Just felt like mentioning
