I recently found out that the unit across the hall from mine also has bed bugs. I've spent tons of time and money trying to eradicate my problem. What if the bugs just decide to cross the hall and visit me again? (And no, I can't report them for other reasons.)

Is there something I can spray around my front door and the floor that would have some residual to discourage the bugs from coming by? It would have to be pet safe. Right now, I've been spraying alcohol several times a day, but that has no lasting effect.

I am in the same boat expect I did have them for a bit, had my apartment professional taken care of and I saw a few near my doorway since. My neighbor had a really bad infestation and I've been using this stuff http://www.amazon.com/Rest-Easy-Spray-2-Ounce-Bottles/dp/B001F0RFBG to keep them out. It's been 4 weeks and so far so good.

How to keep bed bugs from walking in your front door, don't answer the door.
Sorry couldn't help it. Try tactically placed double faced tape and treat cracks and crevices.

There seem to be two different "Rest Easy" brand bedbug sprays. There's also this one http://www.bedbugcentral.com/shop/products.cfm/rest-easy-bed-bug-luggage-spray

Anyone know the difference? Do they both work as repellants?

I'm not sure what the experts would recommend, but a poof of DE is probably pet safe.

One is just a bunch of strong smelling oils (like peppermint etc) and the other one is pyrethrin based which is a pesticide, although the bugs are supposedly getting resistant to it, IIRC.

Here's what I did, because that is exactly how they came into my little condo. I had a door sweep put on the door. Put a super light dust of DE around door/floor entrance. Added doormat outside of door with DE under.

Hopefully any unwanted visitors would travel under the mat in my direction with get a nice coating of DE on the topside. No guarantees, but It was the best strategy I could think of. Prior to the door sweep there was a one inch gap between the door and floor, so anything could have waltzed right in.
