how many legs does a bed bug have
(3 posts)-
I have been getting bitten by something, but have found no signs of bed bugs. The bites are not multiple and it has been going for for a couple of months now. I never would have even thought of bed bugs, but a friend of mine that I haven't seen in over a year, called to tell me that she just bought a new house and has bed bugs. I never really knew of bed bugs before she told me about her horrific ordeal. Then I started to worry and wonder about the bites that I have been getting here and there. I have had no contact with her other than by phone.
I had an exterminator here twice (once and then two weeks later) who also says that he sees no sign of bed bugs. He is experienced in bed bug detection. I bought those plastic cups for under the casters on my bed and they have shown nothing in three weeks. I have my bed isolated and away from the wall and I make sure my covers don't touch the floor, so my bed is like an island. I also have a tenant in an apartment in my house. So, we put the cups under her bed, too. I found a little bug in the cup tonite - it is brown, but it doesn't seem to really look like the pictures I have seen on this site. There are eight legs and the legs look longer than the bed bug legs. And the body is not flat and round. I just wanted to know if anyone knew how many legs a bed bug has? I saved the specimen and will give it to the exterminator when he comes to give me my mattress and box spring encasements - I figure they are good to have regardless! But, if anyone knows the answer to the question about the number of legs that a bed bug has, I would sleep a little better tonite knowing for sure that this wasn't a bed bug.
Thanks -
Good news... Bed bugs have six legs.... Definitely not a bed bug

Arachnids (spiders, ticks and mites) have 8 legs. If a spider, no worries, a tick or a mite, perhaps.
