how long for bite to completely dissapear?
(3 posts)-
Hello,
I have two bites on my neck that I thought were bedbug bites before (after looking at photos), and after my roommate found actual bedbugs I am now pretty sure they are. Problem is, they are taking forever to go away! It has been three weeks since I've noticed them, and they look like flat raised warts with a slightly off-center red center. They have gotten a little less red, and aren't itchy or painful. I have noticed some change in them, but minimal. Anyone think 3 weeks is too long? Or is it normal?
Thanks so much!!

I can't say for certain that you indeed have bed bug bites but I can tell you about mine.
I moved on May 29th out of a bed bug infested building and had my things fumigated (vikane gassed) in a u haul and had the new place pretreated on moving day and then again 2 weeks later.
It has been almost 2 1/2 months since I have gotten any new bites but I do still have a couple of older bites that have yet to fade away. I know they are old bites as after six months in the old place I became very familiar with what my bites look like. It takes anywhere from 6 weeks or more for mine to finally fade away.
Everyone reacts differently but I would say no 3 weeks is not that long of time for a bite to be around.

Bedbug bites are a little like scars. They do fade. Some fade quickly and you never notice they were there at all, but some last a long time. It depends on all sorts of factors about your skin. I have very pale porcelain skin that shows everything and some of my bites are usually visible for months, some traces from older bites are still around, too. I am a hyper-reactor and have very sensitive skin. I have had to use cover cream on some of my bites. I wonder if Mederma or other scar lotions would work to lessen the color once the bite was just a discolored scar?
