I've heard and read that adult bedbugs can live for up to, what, 18 months without a blood meal? Does anyone know how long an unfed nymph can live without a meal? I'd like to think they're not as hardy as their well-fed adult counterparts and thus wouldn't survive long, but I know how dangerous such optimism can be with these critters.

For that matter, is the year-to-18-month benchmark applicable *only* to full-grown adults? Do the various instar phases have different life expectancies?

The fifth instar and the adults live up to 565 days at 10 degrees Celsius (about 50 degrees F) that drops to a little over a month (34 days) at 37 degrees C ( 98 degrees F)

A bed bugs lifespan is highly dependent on the ambient temperature of the harborage.

Once fed early instar nymphs die sooner than the adults and are more affected by low humidity than the later stages.
