Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Detection / Identification of bed bugs
Hoping to get an ID/advice!

Hi,
So I picked up some shifts in a shelter that had a bed bug problem in two of their ten rooms. I had to do the bedding laundry of one of these rooms after a lady had left. Upon arriving home I stopped in the living room aand nd then remembering what I had done went to the bathroom and changed my clothes. I left the clothes I had worn in the bathroom and went to sleep on the couch. When I moved the clothes, about a day later (lazy I know) I found this on the floor. It wasn't moving and unfortunately I just took a picture and didn't keep a sample.
After reading some of the information on this site I decided to keep sleeping on the couch so that I could keep anything in there since we are moving and planning on getting rid of the couch anyway. My boyfriend came home a couple days later and I have been making him sleep on there too since he has had a bedbug before and has had reactions to the bites. I have vaccummed, cleaned, washed and dried anything that I could that was on the floor and the couch. I haven't had any bites and neither has he so far. I have also set up some of those sticky traps to see if I could catch anything.
If this is a bed bug, does anyone have any suggestions on how to move without bringing them with us?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks. -
I should also mention that the shelter was bringing in an PCO and was "dusting"? in the meantime. Is it possible that this was a dead one? When i squished it I didn't notice lots of blood or anything.

I had figured as much since I knew they had them. Since it was exactly where I had ditched my clothes, and I am not sure if it was alive or not, do I need to get a PCO in or would I be safe to just moniter?

Hi,
Sorry I cant tell if its alive from the picture either.
Given that you strongly suspect the source is known to you I would make sure your containment protocols are as tight as possible on the way home to isolate from the source and monitor to make sure the issue does not get established. I have made available a treatment by Passive Monitor replacement protocol which is linked below:

The key issue is going to be resolving things at the source end of the issue which can be difficult in hostel situations, I am working on on in London for the next 3 days as a 2 person team.
Hope that helps.

Fortunately I do not work there full time, I had just picked up a couple of shifts within the past week. I read over the information on the link you provided and will absolutely be following it. Thanks so much for your help! I feel way better and more confident that I can tackle the situation.
