I had bites before ... about two years ago. I still don't know if we have bedbugs. I finally gave in and called pest control and they're coming out tomorrow to determine what the critters are that I've found. One believes we have bat bugs because of the environment we live in. Anyhow, this morning, I woke up with an entire whole body rash ... on my face, my belly, my back. Here's a picture of my belly: http://tinyurl.com/3rzavek

I went to work looking like a diseased freak. It burns like crazy and almost looks like a bad sunburn on my shoulders. I would have taken more pictures, but my batteries went bed. My face almost looks like poison oak. I have a lot of big red patches that look just like the picture. Like I said, I'm having a HUGE burning sensation with it. I have found a few straggling bugs in the last month or so, but very few and they are tiny tiny. I've never found any feces marks, blood stains or such. Thoughts?

Also, this was my original post a week ago. Gives a little more info plus a picture of a bug I found: http://bedbugger.com/forum/topic/if-they-love-wood-they-love-my-house

It looks like a fairly serious allergic reaction. I would grab one of those bugs and head to the doctor. But be prepared for the doc to tell you your reaction is unrelated to the bugs. And I thought WE had a mystery, you poor thing.

Thanks for the reply. I went to the doc before I seen this message, so I did not take a bug with me. They gave me a shot of steroids and prescribed some Benedryl and another round of steroids to start tomorrow. It doesn't seem to be letting up yet and I got the shot 3 hours ago. Should it be? I'm absolutely miserable. My skin is warm and feels like it's on fire. The pest control guy will be here tomorrow to determine what these bugs are. It's pretty bad when you're praying you have bat bugs. I did find another critter tonight and it was on a pillow in the living room. I squeezed it together on a piece of toilet paper and some clear guts came out, but I didn't see blood. Does blood squeeze out of the tiny ones? I'm so disgusted.

Also, I hope more people see this thread. I'm really wondering if any other bedbug sufferers have ever had a rash like this? It looks so much like a heat rash. The bites I had two years ago were the typical "breakfast, lunch, dinner" three-in-row cluster. I've never had a rash like the current one before. Praying I'll never have anything like it again!

For anyone reading this .... I just wanted to say it is now 2:10am and I am WORSE than I was yesterday. Mind I tell you, the doctor gave me a shot of steroids yesterday. My left eye and cheek is really swollen. My eye is nearly swollen shut. I don't know what to do. I will be calling the doctor again. Can someone please tell me if they've ever heard of a bedbug reaction being like this? I'm obviously allergic to something. This is really bad....

No sleep tonight! I'm nearly in tears from the burning.

    HELP!

That would be an unusual reaction to BBs. Not impossible but sufficiently unusual that were I you, I'd be keeping a very open mind on possible causes. There are a number of conditions that may present with your symptoms. You should be looking for the diagnosis, not fixing on a diagnosis of BBs then trying to fit your symptoms to that.

I'm not saying that you should rule them out entirely, but you should definitely rule everything else in until you have a proper diagnosis.

The insect you posted in the other thread is neither a bed bug nor a bat bug.

I hope the doctor can provide you with some relief & a proper diagnosis soon. You're obviously suffering & understandably very worried. Try to do what you can to relax - I know that's easy for me to say, but stress is a known provoker of skin trouble, so trying to relax is clinically indicated.

Doesn't look like BB at all. Isn't this the keratosis pilaris thing?
    Although that is no rash.

    Here's the latest ...

My anxiety over this rash being bedbug related has lessened significantly. The actual rash, however, hasn't lessened as much as my anxiety. Yesterday was quite bad. I went back to the doctor and was given a higher dose of steroids and a shot of Benadryl. Four hours later, the symptoms had not let up at all and I was in terrible pain from the burning. Doctor faxed admission papers to the hospital and wanted me on an IV drip with more steroids. By the time I got to the hospital -- I felt like a real idiot because the swelling had went down and for the first time, I felt some relief. The doctor was called and I told him I wanted to give it another 24 hours as I believed the steroid shot was finally kicking in. The last thing I wanted was MORE steroids if I didn't need them. I saw the doctor again today and he said we're on the downhill slope. The burning has lessened significantly and although, I have a slight itch and I'm still red all over -- my eyes are not swollen shut and some spots seem to be drying up a bit. Huge improvement since it started. The doctor is stumped as to what caused it and he's referred me to an allergist. I go next Tuesday. I've racked my brain on what could have possibly caused this reaction and all I've come up with is possibly tomatoes. I've been on an Italian kick lately and just about every dish I've made for dinner has had a tomato base in it. I'm cutting that out for awhile and see if things change. The other idea (from the doctor) is the fact that we just finished a whole house remodel and he thought maybe something in the house triggered it. New carpet? Insulation? Dry wall? The mass amounts of chemicals I've handled? Who knows. I did stay at my parent's house last night after that thought. I'm back home right now, so we'll see if it flares up again.

And if anyone is still reading this -- could you give me input on chimney swift bugs? I just read a post and left a reply and it's left me feeling quite hopeful. See the post here: http://bedbugger.com/forum/topic/not-bed-bugs-chimney-swift-bugs#post-81993. I found another "mystery" bug in the bathroom tonight. It was crawling on the floor as I was giving the kids a bath. I went in slight freak out mode once again .... which always results in me being on this website for the rest of the night, researching more.

    Thanks ya'll!

How are you doing? I hope you are feeling better and that you and the doctors and PCO's will find out what's causing this.

Oh man, I don't have advice for you (new here) but I feel really bad for you. So sorry you have to go through this. Try and stay positive (I know how tough this is) and secure in the thought that someday you will solve this problem. Hang in there.
