this is awful. I've spotted several BBs in my room. The worst of all - I'm the only one who is allergic to these bites. Thus, my family thinks that I'm paranoid. But i know i'm not. I know it when I see a BB or a BB bite. It would get really red, thick, huge and extremely itchy. I can even feel bugs crawling on my skin. I've mopped the floor with bleach, soak bed sheets in boiling water, sprayed insecticides into cracks and holes in my room and have thrown my pillows away. (Ive also thrown all my mattresses that have infestations away) BUT THE BBs ARE STILL THERE. I've just spotted one recently after I bought new anti bacteria and all-that-jazz type mattresses. This is frustrating. My parents wouldn't believe there are BBs in my room so they let me sleep in their room. But the bites still continue to increase.. AND NONE OF THEM ARE REACTING THE SAME WAY AS I DO. What to do? Someone, please tell me what to do I would gladly appreciate your help. I want to have my peaceful sleep please oh lord..

If you are still seeing them, please capture one with some clear tape and post either a clear picture (or even better, a scan at 4800 dpi) on the site so it can be positively ID'ed.

I cannot answer all of your questions; but as far as the skin crawling sensation, it is likely to be psychological. I am on my second round of dealing with bed bugs, and have experienced it both times. It may feel like there are things crawling on you, but there probably aren't. What was the clincher in my case when I first started feeling that; was instead of reacting to a crawling sensation with a scratch or a swipe, I would instead carefully lift up whatever affected body part it was and look closely at it. There was never anything there. Bed bugs want to have their meal, and GTFO, and go back to hiding wherever they made their home. They don't want to spend time crawling on their host because they would likely end up getting killed. It is important to bear that in mind when you feel like they are crawling on you.

Have you inspected potential hiding spots for evidence, including live samples, shed skins or fecal matter? If you can find evidence or another positively identified sample, then you will need treatment.

Have you had a positive id of bed bugs by someone other than yourself? The best thing you can do is get proof to present to your family. If you can post a picture here someone can help you out with an identification.

A good first step is to review our FAQ and get a better understanding of what BB are, and are not and what are the best practices in getting them out from your home. I agree with those above, if you're seeing them, capture, photograph and post. If you're feeling them crawl on you (many don't), you should be able to see and capture one.

It's difficult to determine that a "bite" is from a bed bug, not some other irritant or allergen. Also, as people have delayed reactions, you could be getting bit somewhere else, then reacting at home.

Many people jump to conclusions that "bugs" in or near the bed are automatically bed bugs. We've seen people here go into panic mode over what turned out to be carpet beetles, spider beetles, lady bugs, roaches and other creatures.

If you do have bed bugs in your room, moving to another room in your home to avoid being bit is a bad practice. It can cause the bugs to migrate in search of a meal.

    So, best approach:
    - Read the FAQ http://bedbugger.com/faqs/
    - Post a photo.

There are less expensive monitors than the Night Watch which might help you identify if you have a problem. Check out the active and passive monitor FAQs linked from the Useful Stuff page.
