Help - Is this a bed bug? (Pics attached)
(4 posts)-
Hey guys, here's my story:
I just spent 1 week in a recording studio (where we also stayed). On the last day of the session, I found out that a musician who visited the studio during that week (was not staying there) just discovered bed bugs in his appt.
Fast forward 24 hours. I return home from the studio at midnight, immediately wash all my clothes in hot water, dry on the highest setting. I even put my bag in the dryer on high for 30 minutes. I take a long shower making sure to scrub everywhere and rinse my hair thoroughly, then put on fresh clothes that have never been in contact with the studio clothing. I go to bed at 2:00 (2 hours after arriving at my house). Just as I lay down in my bed to sleep, I feel an insect crawl on my forearm. I turned on the light, nabbed it, and put it in a ziplock bag. When I grabbed it, I killed it and smashed ever-so-slightly.
I took photos today (the day after the incident) and am looking for anyone who can help me identify the bug. I really hope it isn't a bed bug. Have a look.

PS - I thought that the insect had wings, but couldn't be sure due to the damage done when swatting it. In this picture - http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm28/bugs1979/3.jpg - you can kind of see an outgrowth where a wing might have been. However I have come to learn that they shed their skin, so it could have been dead skin peeling off of the bug (which I may have mistaken for a wing).

I'd be interested in examining it directly if you are able to send it to me? LouLou, I'd love to have you take a look at it, however this is the only bug I found and would hate to have it destroyed / lost in the mail. I really hope it is not a bedbug, but if you think you could without question identify it as a bedbug or not, I could be convinced to send it.
I appreciate your help!
